FNP40 Slide lock after last round spent problems.Suggestions

Post by 1shot1kill » 22 Aug 2010, 03:40

I have a FNP40 that has been and still is a great gun; reliable, shoots well, very accurate, comfortable etc etc. However, recently it hasn't been locking the slide after the last round is spent thus slowing reload and unsure if a round is chambered sometimes. Has anyone else had this problem? Are there any suggestions?

Sounds like 1shot means locking back - the hold open isn't catching. Any chance you could post pics of the catch to see if it is worn? How old/used is the gun? What about the mags? Is it that way with all of them or just one? My Witness does the same thing but it is always on just the one mag.
Contrary to popular belief, you CAN fix stupid - it's just illegal.

Sorry guys, I meant it doesn't catch locking back. All four of my mags have been shot though it. I will try to take a picture of catch to post. Gun is approx 3 years old with around 1000 rounds through it.

FWIW, the only time I have had that problem (not FN related) it ended up being the mag springs (of three mags) that came with a used pistol. Has anyone else shot it?

I recently have had the same issue with the slide on my FNP 40. It was the first time that I shot that many rounds. Went thru 40 to 50 rounds and the slide did not catch on the last round. I found that this did not happen with only one clip. Still looking for an answer myself.

Slide isn't locking back because you're using clips in a gun that's meant to use mags.
