Experience with mounting optics on standard FS2000 rail.

Post by Seaview1104 » 22 Jan 2011, 00:18

I have noticed a couple of posts regarding the standard FS2000 (with the 1.5x optics) and the fact that you can remove them revealing a plastic rail that after market optics could be attached to.

Has anyone done this and if so what problems did you encounter if any?

My questions are:
1. Did you have to use a riser?
2. How robust is the plastic rail and was it sufficient to properly hold optics using an ARMS 19 type mount?
3. Did the rails deform?
4. Has anyone used AR type front and rear iron sights and were the heights correct to allow for accurate shooting?

Thanks for your help.

For my part, an Aimpoint CompM4 cannot be mounted to an FS2000 standard top rail without a riser. Due to the mountng screw on the CompM4 impacting the upper. The rail is too low profile. That's one of the benefits of the tactical model. Have not attempted to mount a EoTech or others first hand. The other problem is the inability to remove the front swivel (without cutting it off) which impacts some low profile sights.

OK. Thanks.
Did the plastic rails deform when you tried to mount the Comp 4?

Did the riser take care of the front swivel issue?

Was planning on using a Elcan Spectre.

I am also going to try a riser with integral AR 15 rear sight and then try mounting a folding AR front sight. Very short sight radius but for back up it should work.

The rails didn't deform, its good plastic, but I still trust metal more. The riser solved the front swivel issue in terms of interfering with the CompM4. I've heard good things about the Elcan mounting on the FS2000 Standard, so good choice in my mind.

The only issue I have with the CompM4 I the oversized screw for the integral mount. Otherwise, great piece of hardware.
