SCAR CQC Availability

Post by SeaHawkDriver-B » 09 Nov 2010, 15:49

Several gun manufacturers offer SBR's straight from the dealer as transfers rather than Form-1 (to make a weapon) yourself. I'm interested in getting my hands on the SCAR CQC barrel, but I've never seen one. Are they available to the public? Are they interchanable with every other standard SCAR barrel?

IIRC, FN does not import the barrel itself.

You can get a barrel from here then cut it down

My understanding was that each barrel length for the SCAR was "tuned" such that the gas ports operated at the correct pressures to account for the dramatic change in barrel length. Simply cutting one could decrease reliability.

Is this all BS? :ponder:

INteresting, looks like some fine work they did there; if you've got the several hundred thousand dollar machine to do it, lol.

I've always wondered about using suppressors. The SCAR has a 1:7 twist I believe, which on a 10" barrel, might be enough to stabilize 62gr M855 (standard NATO round) into a suppressor.

I was told by the guys at Gemtech, that barrel lengths under 14" weren't sufficient to stabilize rounds that could start to keyhole before they got out of the suppressor, causing damage. Again, another anomolie I'd have to deal with.
