Got my FNAR this weekend, and in a rush to give it a test, I picked up a cheap BSA Catseye 3-10x44 (FM310x44/2) mounted with cheap Simmons 1" rings. @100 yards, it worked rather well. @200 yards, it works, but not desirable. The scope was mounted very low, and the objective is very close to the front of the rail. It did not take much effort at all to get it sighted in.

After shooting I swapped out the recoil pad to the thickest one, and the lowest profile cheek piece. This seemed to be the most optimal with the scope so low.

I'm heavily considering a Bushnell Elite 4200 6–24 x 40mm, and a Harris Bipod HBLM-S, which should be one sweet setup. The other challenge will be to find additional magazines. The 20 rd is a tad excessive, and I would prefer to get my hands on the 10rd mags.


Anyone have any thoughts on the Bushnell Elite 4200 series?

Targets were @ 100 yards while sighting in. Only had the sling and mat doubled over on the bench to keep it still. As I mentioned before, the optic is just temporary to get an idea of what I am looking for.

K, scored a much, much better optic. Looking to give it a test the weekend, but I snagged the Bushnell Elite 6500 4.5-30x50, Mat Mil Dot from ManVenture Outpost for $682 shipped.

Perhaps I got the last Mil Dot, but they have the other reticle as well.

Well, I'll soon be among the ranks of FNAR owners and will also be hunting around for a good scope. Luckily many of my friends are either avid hunters or Rem 700 fans so I have numerous scopes to try out before I make a final decision.

First up, one of my friends is loaning me the optics off his "varmint" rifle while it's out of commission. It's a bit on the low end range, but I've been reading up on it and many people seem to really like it. It's the Millet TRS-1 which is a 4-16x50mm setup. I'm eager to see how well it performs at the range, especially up against much higher "quality" optics. For the price it seems like the bargain of the century and people who have it love it even when compared against their other stuff costing nearly 3x as much. Once I get my hands on it and have some range time I'll post a full report back here.
