Popped the VLTOR stock on a SCAR 17S.

Snap to compare factory stock to VLTOR stock:

Looks like a Goldfish.

A black, goldfish.

I'm sure it is very functional; what does it offer above and beyond the factory one? Metal latch?

What's the lower forward protrusion serve to do?

TIA; thanks for sharing the pictures :)

VLTOR "improvements" over stock stock:
- Built in QD sling swivel sockets
- Metal reinforcement plate
- Larger storage compartment
- Flat footprint (buttpad)

Then of course the cosmetic differences.

With respect to the design that lower forward protrusion was designed for the shooter's hand when shooting from prone.

I like that addition. Not very necessary for the way I shoot (I do use my non-firing hand at the rear of the stock, I just don't need a large protrustion), but I like that they added that. :thumb:

Yeah thus far the VLTOR stock sees more range time than the FnH stock. It fits better, seems sturdier, has more storage space and the flat boot pad.

Ok so I put one of these on my SCAR 17 today but I have a problem. There is a little half moon shaped spring or something not sure what it does but it fell out when I pulled the original stock off. Where does it go? I noticed that the stock felt a little sloppy with out it and so did the original when I tried putting it back on. Any suggestions?

That is an update to the SCAR buttstock. Call it the anti-rattle spring. Put there to reduce the rattle/noise some SCARS exhibited without that spring in place. There is a thread on the other forum that has pics of that part and where to place it. I would describe it as halfway up but the photo there really nails it better than "turn left by the rock after you pass the third billboard". :)
