Because I'm too lazy to look and think that it should be included, where do other First world Western nations fall in this? UK, Germany, etc? And Japan?

Fine I went and looked. If either of these are to be believed, the developed nations with gun control DO have lower firearm related homicides and suicides. Do I agree with restricting my rights? No. Do I think these numbers make it a tough fight? Yes.

It is true that they have lower firearm related crimes however, look at the violent crime stats for these countries as well.
A vid in a recent thread puts England's violent crime at more than double that of America's.

Yep I didn't look those up. Definitely a multi-faceted issue. As I said this doesn't change my beliefs but gives ammunition to those who would argue the point.

Look at the first murder (if one is to believe the Bible). A firearm wasn't used then and if all firearms were removed from the planet and the ability to produce one was removed from the human consciousness, man would still find a way to kill each other.
If not with firearms, then with the blade. If not with the blade, then with a club. If not with a club, then with his bare hands.
A firearm simply makes those weaker than others better able to defend themselves from a stronger opponent.


But you can't argue with a stupid person (read, LIBERAL). They will drag you down to their level and beat you with experience.

These are some interesting statistics, I had studied something similar to them a few months back, both pertaining to gun related murders per capita as well as just general murder, what I found was that even in terms of gun related homicide we came in somewhere in the 20s....the countries on the top were countries such as Honduras, Brazil, South Africa, Jamaica, as well as some others....these countries have gun policies ranging from very stringent to fairly unrestrictive, what this tells me is that REGARDLESS OF POLICY guns are still in fact available to those who truly wish to obtain them...now sure, one can make the argument that these countries are not as developed as the US, not first world, ect, however, in my opinion, this gives no relevancy to the argument that restriction via government reduces their avalibility, as regardless of how rich, poor, etc. these nations are the fact remains that THEY ARE GETTING THEIR HANDS ON FIREARMS REGARDLESS. 

Another interesting point to bring would be regarding other developed countries that, while perhaps not as liberal as the US is in terms of firearms restrictions, still maintain fairly lax firearms laws, examples of this include Switzerland, the Czech Republic as well as some others. If you look at the comparative statistics regarding firearm related homicides pertaining to these countries, you will see that they fall very low on the chart in comparison to others....which, again, to me, shows that restrictions on firearms to little to nothing to combat firearms related homicides.
