Helmets

Just saw this over at magpul. I understand this is conceptual, but wouldn't it be prudent to cover the helmet with a visor instead of using some shooting glasses. I know in a humid or cold climate this wouldn't work - but this is all conceptual. I would hope by the time this type of thing becomes reality they would be able to incorporate some climate controlled full helmet that will keep the soldier comfortable and safe from anything less than a 50 bmg. Heck... if we're talking about the future, I'm thinking there will be a breakthrough in composits that can withstand any projectile.

It looks like the lower portion of the helmet pivot up which is why they couldn't make a visor.that is good so when shooting, you could at least try to get a cheek weld. With a full face helmet, there is no chance of even seeing through an optic

Little late for April fools jokes :p

That helmet looks like something only an IC (internet commando) would wear. I'm with srt - that full face is just going to f-up the cheek weld with the weapon. However they do make full face helmets w/visors where the whole face mask pivots up. Its called a modular helmet, I have one for motorcycle riding. It does still cover the ears though & part of the cheek - it would still make weapon use difficult.

I just looked at Magpul's site - didn't see anything like this. Got a link?

Needs a little evil dragon artwork on the helmet. Like hockey goalie helmet art
A liberal lady friend once argued that a lot of gun owners that are victims of a crime end up getting killed with their own weapons. That's absurd! If someone is going to kill me with my own gun, they're going to have to beat me to death with it, because it's going to be empty.

Depends on the situation - when actually working underwater, 3 is just right :D

But yeah, for this - overkill & not in a good way. "Look at me, I'm 3 times more annoying if you're a friend & an even more obvious target if you're an enema."

Oops - enemy. I mean enemy :D

Wow, you'd think by now the armed force would have already come up with a solution to this if it were really a probl- OH WAIT

Just trim the bucket a bit to conform with the current ground forces' specs and you're good to go.

Assuming this thing isn't a joke entirely, 1 visible light, one IR illuminator with maybe a wide angle and more narrow beam? Center of the helmet looks like a night vision mount, or almost a camera in there.

Is it just me or are his pants falling down from all the "stuff" he's carrying on his belt and vest?
Better to have a tank when you don't need it then to need a tank when you don't have it.

GAY!!! Too much crap. I don't get into all that stuff, but I'm sure if they make it, someone will buy it. I guess if they want to stand out at the range, that will do it!

There's no need for it at the range but if it's functional and keeps our guys safer I'm all for it.
