40 grain V max vs 40 gr BT?

If someone has conducted a test of penetration expansion or weight retention, can you share your findings? Or maybe point me at the right direction.

I am talking at 5.7 pistol velocities.

I cannot comment on penetration or weight retention.

It's been my experience that the 40gr Nosler BT cannot be "pushed" as hard the hornady vmax before signs of pressure start to show up. I've always assumed it's because the Nosler has a slightly different shape with more bearing surface on the bore.

I've seen some others on the forum regard these 2 bullets & their load data as "interchangeable" but I would advise caution.
