Sight for my PS90

Post by Litehiker » 21 Aug 2013, 15:37

Just ordered a Bushnell TRS-25 red dot sight for my PS90.

1. It's CHEAP at $79.99 on sale.
2. It has good reviews for ruggedness and holding zero.
3. The TRS mounts lower than an EOTEC sight (my 1st choice, natch)

So, whaddya think? OK for a first optic?

I have one on mine and it works great. The adjustable dot size is nice for distance/ smaller targets.
Change is inevitable; progress is optional.

I didn't realize the dot size was adjustable on the Bushnell TRS-25 red dot. Thanks

My God the Aimpoint Micro is 'SPENSIVE! I can buy 6 or 7 TRS-25s for that price. What is so damn great that they are worth that much. They are really "proud" of that sight.

It is. They are.

It's a great sight. That said, the Burris FFIII makes a great, much less expensive alternative.

Blue,

I'd get a Burris FastFire III BUT on careful examination it has the same weakness that my el cheapo TruGlo similar sight has.

Namely dirt, snow, or water can fill up the area between the projector lens and the viewing lens, rendering the sight ineffective. Don't ask me how I know but there are ducks alive today because of that problem. (Duck huting is a bit like combat - hours of boredom and minutes of excitement, everything gets banged around, dirty, wet or all three at the same time, and firearms MUST function when needed to ensure success.)

That's why I opted for the TRS-25 instead. Rugged and reliable - and affordable.

Call me a cheapskate but I found the REM3 to be the perfect 'enhancement' for the factory site.

Cyberfly,

At $89. I think I'll get that REM3 sight and decide which of the two goes on my Benelli M1 shotgun and which on the PS90.

Pat Rogers in his classes takes an 8 pound AR with an Aimpoint T1, inverts it and drops it onto concrete with the Aimpoint taking the full brunt of the impact.

It still works :)

Also, Larry Vickers on his TV show literally blew up a Daniel Defense AR with a T1, ran over it with a Humvee, threw it out of a chopper, shot it with a shotgun AND it STILL worked!

If your life depends on your carbine, Yeah, they are worth it! I run one on my Duty AR.

Original ring site with a REM 3 is my personal favorite.

Re: Sight for my PS90 (arrived today)

So the REM 3 has a "ring" reticle?

That's fine with me because my Steyr AUG has a built in Swarovski 1.5 X sight with a ring reticle with which I'm very familiar.

Just one more reason to get the REM and try it.

I mounted the TRS-25 red dot sight today and its height is perfect as-is. (I did not get the riser block.)
Now to perforate some targets!

BTW, I used to think that if there was a true SHTF disaster my 5' 3" wife could use our scoped Ruger 96/22 (.22 mag) lever gun. But now I feel the better weapon for her is the PS90. So it's off to the range with her for practice whenever possible.

The REM3 works with the factory ring reticle, the original sight that was on the PS90. They've changed it since then but you can still find the original sights.

The factory sight has a tritium strip to illuminate a T bar when in low light. The REM3 is a light source which can illuminate the T bar in all light conditions; this is useful because the white rings in the original sight do not show up against light backgrounds.

The green is by fare my favorite. Had a blue one also but on snowy days with clear blue skies up by me the snow has a blue hue and it washed out a little.

These are what the factory white ring look like with a REM installed. It's is fully adjustable for brightness. The pic in the upper left is what the factory sight look like without the REM.
