FsN MKII Sights

Post by blueorison » 25 Mar 2016, 18:33

Aren't designed very intelligently.

I bought a MkII and out of the box the rear sights looked like they were at the end of the set screw for elevation in the up direction.

I thought they implemented that practice as a safety precaution, and clicked it down 20 clicks.

The sight was still very far from bottoming out.

Sure enough, it's not a safety precaution. SS197 (and probably AE) is dead on at 25yds with the sights hovering extremely high off of the top of the slide/I had to click it back up.

Whoever designed this implementation isn't very intelligent. All they had to do was produce a lower front sight.

Oh well. I guess I know now that I'll be 100% going with an MRD, again.

Trying to figure out what colour scheme I would like with the extended slide and bbl, once Jay comes out with it.

Midwest Gun Works sells different height tritium front sights right now for around $15-$30, which might solve the issue for you.

This is why I have been offering lower front sights. The lower front blades though they sell aren't drilled and fill while we will over them.

.490 is factory MKI, MKII, IOM etc.

The .357 Night Sight is for the fixed sights.

The .337 and .383 FNH never made night sights but I will be offering them soon drilled and filled.

There seriously is a need; I googled and saw a tonne of pictures of MkII with really high-sitting rear blades.

If people don't understand why this is BAD thing, not just a "different" thing, then there is obviously no point for me to argue... :(

I shot 10 rounds and zero'd my MkII sights with SS197. I'm going to put it away till it can be modified by you, Jay. That way I can sell the bbl as your 7in bbl is going into it.

I think the front blade sight is implemented as such, for an attachment of a suppressor. I could be wrong but it makes sense to me.

True but they could have executed the rear better.

Initially, this came to mind, but it would barely even clear the rear of the suppressor, if it could.

Also, I've seen multiple rear sights snap off or their screws completely work loose and fly into oblivion. The setting that it comes from factory with only exacerbates this.

This is a really poor implementation.

Blue, it's good to see you buying a new 5.7. I hope you get back to shooting as much as you used to.

Thanks, Mike!

I'm taking a breather from USPSA, tired of stage planning.

As far as 3Gun... you might hear something soon.

The FsN is still my favorite pistol, alongside the .460XVR 7in Perf Center and the 10mms.

When Jay is done with his extended slide project and my MkII, I'll take it to 3Gun and shoot the stages with only 1 gun, again.

They still have the night matches once in a while, so that will be fun, also.

My NIB MK2 is still sitting in the factory box waiting for Jay to be done with 1/1000 of his projects.

Once he comes out with the extended slide, I'll send it in for trigger work and extended bbl/slide.

I can relate with having lots of unfinished projects. The extended slide should be interesting. I'm sure it will be worth the wait with great ballistics.

So you'll finally be able to hit the broad side of a barn?

Well it's about time :D
