Recoil spring question for Jay

Post by DoubleJ » 11 Jan 2016, 07:53

Just curious, when you were doing spring rate testing did you go higher than 20#? What issues did you encounter if so? Just got me a G20, and found that there are springs available from 13 to 24#, with the stocker being 16 or 17 depending on who you ask. Wouldn't mind trying some higher rates in my FsN, maybe reduce shoulder movement or reduce digging through bushes for brass.

Above 20 say 22 starts to hammer the breach face.

Did it start to show damage to the slide and barrel or were you able to see bounce on the high speed?

Peening combined with knowledge of issues with the 10 BOZ round. Also want to make sure it worked with all ammo including Sub Sonic.

When I put a 22 pound spring in my G20 10mm it turned it into a jam o matic. I put the factory 17 pounder it runs fine even with hot rounds.

The shoulder issue with 5.7 is what it is.
