if you are going to paint it, might as well get the glow in the dark type paint...that or just get the night siters and use those.

White paint is all that was in there in the first place.

Tritium is the only way to go. I've got them on my Kimber Exec. It's so comforting to roll over in the middle of the night and see those three dots glowing on the nightstand.

O.k., tritium sights (I have them on another gun -- like 'em) -- question is, where to get 'em for the 5-7?

Get the nitesiters http://www.nitesiters.com/" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; Even if you want tritium, the nitesiters will work well in the mean time. They are way more visible than the stock factory sights, you can see them at night if they have been charged (flashlight or UV for 5 min), and they are only $8 for like 8 of them.

I've used the phosphoresent paint and it works as well as the nitesiters (if you apply two or three coats) but the nightsiters are MUCH easier to apply.
The only advantage to the paint is, one little bottle is about $4 and you can do MANY, MANY weapons with it. And still have a bunch of paint left over. But the nitesiters are a lot easier to apply.
A LOT easier.

All good ideas, but I'll add one more. You can tell I have grandchildren. I noticed my one grandaughter had some fingernails glowing in the dark, so I thought about an old handgun with barely visible front sight from rubbing in the holster. Borrowed the fingernail glow polish--has nice little brush. Can't cost more than chump change. Works fine for me.

Nearly the same thing as the phosphorescent paint, Padre. One of my girls has a little friend that had glow in the dark fingernail polish and I was checking it out this Halloween. Nearly identical to the paint I have in my closet. Just thinner.

Great minds think the same.... or is it just cops are all broke and find the cheap and resourceful way?

Paint sucks. it will wear off when you clean the sights. I am thinking about nitesiters but am still testing the waters.

Mine hasn't. I clean my sites every time I clean my weapon.
