Did I get a lemon?

Post by xraypipeliner » 22 Jan 2012, 19:39

If I load a round then another this happens..Image
Without a round loaded it looks like this....Image
With 1 round in chamber it looks like this....ImageIt is also wearing on the right more than the left (I know the lighting sucks) here...Image

This is my first firearm. Have run 30 - 40 rounds through it. Something just dosnt seem right.

Its like the round is sticking in the barrel. It wont eject it out.

How tight is it if you move it with your hand and try to pull it out? I doubt it is a tight chamber.

If the slide isn't seating you're probably riding the slide home with your hand instead of releasing it and letting it ride home itself.

If you're not doing that, then it's your extractor. The extractor might be out of spec and isn't clawing over the rim to extract, which also explains why the slide isn't going home.

I would definitely contact FN.

Welcome to our forum! :)

I see you have 5 posts but don't remember if I welcomed you already or if you had posted on the new members intro thread.

You have had a neck separation and the piece is keeping the next round from fully chambering.

Looks as if you're riding the slide home. Possibe for a really tight chamber, but more than likely riding the slide, and possible your extractor is broken, defective, or out of spec if it's not grabbing the round. Could even be an extractor spring problem. Please verify you're slingshotting the slide home :) Definately contact FNH.

Or as Jay has posted, neck seperation.

A long time ago I was taught (and this is suprising to alot of new gun users) it is better for the gun to I guess work the actions hard and fast (really opening myself up with that one). This creates less drag and is just how the guns were made to function, the firearm is made to fire and have that spring slam the bolt back forward as fast as possible so doing this yourself will have no negative effects when loading. If you notice you slide sitting slightly back like that a quick smack to the back of it should fully seat the round in the chamber. Also welcome to the forum and the fn and gun community

The only time I know of where you are supposed to ride the slide, is when working with an unloaded 1911 (supposed to cause damage to the barrel)...otherwise, just let her slam shut.

INCORRECT

TOTALLY COMPLETELY WRONG

BUZZER SOUND ERGHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!

The correct answer is that you are to baby everything on your firearm and never allow it experience over 1G. Also make sure to polish with your dremel and buffer, then a find sander, then fine-grit sandpaper, then jewelers polish before GENTLY (I cannot stress this word enough) GENTLY and TENDERLY (maybe repeating it might help) placing it back in your safe.

This way the firearm will look nice and new for the next time you shoot at at 5 yards once a year, so everyone can admire it on the range, for which you have discovered, is firearm's true purpose. If you accidentally scratch it, it's ok, the gun is made of plastic, and you couldn't justify buying it in the first place, until Modern Warfare 3 came out on XBOX, then you had to. So now you can sleep BETTER AT NIGHT. Because that's what it's all about.

If it's the best in mw then it's the best in real life though right?!?! Oh and your pistol is missing that sticker that goes on the slide by the way...

Hahaha oh man, I just can't decide which gun to add to my collection next I think it will be a red 9 that was awesome in resident evil 4 and the 5.7 in that game sucked. Looks like this 5.7 is just a piece of worthless plastic afterall sigh
