5.7 MK 2 Chambered round indicator stuck down

Post by osjim » 28 Dec 2014, 19:21

Hello, I am a fairly new 5.7 owner and my wife loved my black 5.7 so much I bought her one as well two tone FDE. Here is the problem though. We just returned from the LGR and while cleaning both guns, and upon reassembly I noticed the chambered round indicator on my 5.7 was stuck down and not popping up to indicate a round was chambered. I checked my wife's 5.7 and it worked fine. I searched the forum here and did not see anyone else encountering the same issue. Any suggestions???

A spring pushes it down.

Something has to be really wrong for it not to pop up. I would stop shooting it now and get it checked it out.

How good are your taking apart/put back together skills? If you are willing to do it (this will also void your warranty) you can detail strip the slide for your FsN.

These instructions are for the USG, I do not know if the MkII is the same.
Sometimes the spring just needs cleaning but it not something I do every time I clean my gun. In fact, in the 5+ years I've had mine, I think it's been cleaned a whole 3 times & once was when EA Accurized it.

I looked at both the 5.7 FDE and my black 5.7 this morning and the little ball under the barrel in the slide was there but appeared to be "stuck". I cleaned it and pushed it in manually several times while cleaning and spraying it off with air and it now seems to work correctly. Is this a regular maintenance item on this 5.7 MK2 slide?

I clean mine as well as I can & manually move it out every time I clean my gun (USG). But then I'm kind of anal that way.

Primer debris an get in there from a popped primer. When we do our accurizing we modify it so as to keep it from getting bond from debris and then if it gets bad enough, being popped out through the side of the slide cover.
