Re: Unimax Laser

I had a green one. Had a problem with the switch, sent it in, they sent it back. After a short while, the problem showed up again. My opinion, rely on iron sights, train with iron sights, and use the laser as a neat toy, but nothing to stake your life on.

Re: Lasermax Problem

I had problems with my green one. Switch seemed bad - would periodically go dim when the switch was wiggled or not turned on "just right". I sent it back and they returned it. It worked fine for a while, but I have seen signs that the problem is returning. This convinced me that lasers aren't for me...

If it wasn't so real, it would be funny....McCain should have published this before the election!

Re: Another New FN FiveseveN First Range Report

My base is a 12" square stepping stone with a 20 lb cylinder of concrete - never had a problem in the wind. I used a cheap inverted bucket with the bottom cut out for the concrete form. I just duct-taped the form to the stepping stone and made sure I packed the concrete in well so I wouldn't get a l...

Re: Another New FN FiveseveN First Range Report

Frame holder is 1/2" copper pipe cut and soldered to size, the mesh is a soft mosquito mesh I found at a local fabric store. It is held onto the frame with some floral wire my wife got from Michaels craft store. If using for the 5/7, the mesh needs to be soft to absorb the energy of the casings bein...

Re: Another New FN FiveseveN First Range Report

I solved the loss of brass problem - I made a brass catcher. It catches about 90% of the brass. It's on an extendable paint pole (bought at Lowes) that is set in about 20 lb of concrete. The top is removable so it can be easily transported. My newest version (old version shown below) has a square ba...

Re: Problems cycling and rounds ejecting with new .57 pistol!

Update on my ammo problem. I received replacement ammo (plus some for the inconvenience) from Bob of a different lot number a few days ago. I sent him the bad lot in return. This afternoon, I shot 150 rounds of the new stuff. I did not have any fail to extract issues that I did with the previous bat...

Wow, vegamite, that cat has some bizar tastes. That stuff is barely edible. Its an acquired taste. I like it on toast with Spicy V8 juice to chase. What do you know....you like anchovies! I tried vegamite once, yuk!!!. It may be an acquired taste, but when you don't like it to start with, why bothe...

Sounds like the identical problem with this thread http://www.fivesevenforum.com/viewtopic.php?f=15&t=1846" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; Call Bob at FN to get them to replace your ammo. My new gun was the subject of the post referenced above. The exact problem you have - 197 worked...

Re: Experience with Electronic Headsets

BTW - I ususally use foam plugs for rifle because I don't like the muffs hitting the stock as well. The muffs are great for pistol.

Re: Experience with Electronic Headsets

Funny you should bring up electronic muffs. A week ago Saturday, I was at my CCW class and a lady was using electronic muffs at the range. She offered for me to try them and I thought they were great. I could hear better than with my unprotected ears, but it muffed the sound nicely when a shot was f...

Greenville area. Only lived here for a few months since I started this new job, but, so far, I love the area. In addition, I have learned that in some ways, SC is a little more gun friendly than where I came from in NC.

On this issue I would start with the House of Representative. Use http://www.house.gov/" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; and they type in your zip in the upper left. The Senate info is at http://www.senate.gov/general/contact_information/senators_cfm.cfm" onclick="window.open(this.hre...

Re: First FN 57 Range report

Update on the status: I received two boxes of SS195LF from Bob last week. They were the same lot #, but they worked fine. Bob is going to swap out my ammo with some 195 from a different lot as soon as I pack it up for him. Interesting thing - he said that he no longer gets the 197 since it is now be...

Thanks for the compliments - Being organized is one of my character flaws (as my all too patient wife constantly reminds me). The reloading bench was actually a workbench I built for the woodworking shop I had in the garage of my other house before I moved here a few months ago. Because the house I'...
