Re: Anyone have any data for CFE Pistol?

I ran a bunch of calculations and comparative data and based on that it should be able to be taken up to 5.4gr.. But I personally would start start it at 4.0gr shooting 5 rounds and increasing it in .1gr increments. Alot of the cross calculations came close to the 115gr 9mm LRN data. But to be on t...

Re: Anyone have any data for CFE Pistol?

I'd take it on trying it myself, but the only thing I could even imagine for a starting point would be to use an equivalent ratio of starting load for AA5 or AA7 based off a 9mm case, and that sounds FAR too risky to me, seeing as I have only a fundamental understanding about what makes a powder su...

Re: Anyone have any data for CFE Pistol?

Merged w/original thread. Apologies, I thought this thread was on another forum. Until such time that FN joins SAAMI and works with US Ammo standards, you will not see anything in the way of data from reliable sources. So I guess that makes Western "unreliable"? I'd assume a lack of response here m...

CFE Pistol in 5.7?

Like most, I'm putting my hands on whatever I can find, and I was lucky enough to acquire a pound of CFE pistol. I see NO one out there in internet land that has attempted it in 5.7x28, and though the burn rate is in range, I have no idea if it would be an appropriate powder in this cartridge. Anyon...

Re: Bad (not awful) day with a reload

Pulled em all down, I may revisit eventually but for now I'll stick to the 40gr vmaxes. I need to get my hands on a faster powder before I try the 25gr again.

Re: AA #9

In the pistols (my USG and his MKII) the shoulder moved significantly, but in the rifle the case looked pretty much exactly like a fired SS197 round (I didn't put a calipers on it, but it was very similar).

Re: Anyone have any data for CFE Pistol?

By itself, no, but its certainly a valid question, and seeing as hodgedon doesn't have any data for this round, I doubt they're going to offer any for CFE Pistol... I'm also curious if anyones worked anything up yet.

Re: Bad (not awful) day with a reload

Actually you are above the top end for Longshot. Top End for both True blue and Longshot are at 6.2gr. I have run multiple tests with various primers including the BR4 at 6.1gr and 6.2gr. During summer time with temps over 80 I would recommend sticking to 6.0 or less if you are just going for the f...

Re: AA #9

I'm loading AA9 for my buddy's PS90, and 7.8 is exactly the charge we went with. 8.0 shot safely so a small overcharge leaves room and they cycled well. We were shooting unsupported on a pistol range, so can't honestly say how well they grouped.

Re: Bad (not awful) day with a reload

The slide didn't close on the next round, and I pretty much knew what happened immediately. I knew these were on the top end of safe but certainly wasn't expecting this kind of failure.

Bad (not awful) day with a reload

So my second outing at the range with my Five-seven, and I have to say, I've had better days. To save those of you who are cringing, no I didn't blow it up. What I DID do was split a case at the shoulder... unfortunately I was unable to recover the brass as the range wasn't going to cease-fire for m...
