Re: bought 5.7 ammo RECENTLY?

I fight with this. The capitalist in me wants to make a fast (and big) buck. The decent person in me won't let me take advantage of the current situation to rob my fellow shooters. Fellow shooters? Yes, I agree, brosef, we need to stand up for certain things, together. But when mall ninjas point lo...

Bullet Weight for Subsonics?

Can someone please point me to a thread on this? Been away for a while and want to load some decent heavy subs. Not sure what weight to try though. I want to get some rounds ready for my AR57 upper and suppressor.

Re: Best 40 grain bullet for the PS90?

I use the Hornady V-Max bullets. They are identical to the blue tip ones but have a red-orange tip instead. And lately I've been buying the Z-Max version cause it is cheaper. And as of right now, they are in stock at Midway. http://www.midwayusa.com/product/918954/hornady-z-max-bullets-22-caliber-22...

Re: My Conversations with Hornady and Dillon, on the Five Se

Well...I started working on a progressive reloading setup in January of 2010 and just finished a 1000 round run yesterday. It was, in fact a pricey project but now it's done and works as it should. Here is the tale... 1) Custom size/trim die for my Dillon 1200 rapid trim - $55 from CH4D and a six m...

Re: AR Five Seven Barrel Change?

Well that's just great. I'm back from vacation and will have to figure out what I'm going to do about it. Sounds like it would have been better to just sell the 11" upper for a slight loss and then buy a 12" version.

Re: New PS 90

Very nice. I originally preferred the black but the OD green has really begun to grow on me. But not in a fungus sort of way.

AR Five Seven Barrel Change?

I originally bought an 11" upper for my SBR. It works great but I wanted to correct the length to add a tri-lug for a suppressor, so I got a 12" barrel from the company. Both barrels hav the nut end just behind the threading. What are the steps for switching out the barrels?

Re: My Conversations with Hornady and Dillon, on the Five Se

EA supports it not Dillon. Oh, well that certainly explains that. I've got the powder funnel on order now. That'll probably be another 8-12 weeks. It reall sucks that they guy told me that it wasn't needed back when I ordered the shell plate. That would have saved me a lot of time and I'd be loadin...

Re: My Conversations with Hornady and Dillon, on the Five Se

Seems rather strange that he'd tell me that it's not worth reloading if they support it on the 550.

Well I'm glad someone is doing this, cause Dillon has no interest in supporting it... still.

My Conversations with Hornady and Dillon, on the Five Seven.

Background: I've currently got a Hornady Lock-N-Load AI press. I've been running it for a couple of years mostly as a 9mm production facility for feeding my full auto MP5, as that's what I shoot most of the time. I recently got an AR-57 upper for my AR15 SBR lower and got interested in shooting that...

Finally Got My (Expensive) Hornady Shell Plate

I have two presses. One is a Lee Challenger single stage and the other is a Hornady L-N-L Progressive. I loaded about 200 rounds with some Power Pistol powder and Federal 40 grain .224 plastic tip bullets on my single stage press a few months ago. It worked fine and I ended up with a load that close...

Re: How to own a silencer for the Five-seveN?

I was in Pamona CA for a couple of weeks back in 2006, during the LA county fair. I had a great time. I drove though LA a few times and hit places like Venice beach and the Santa Monica Pier. Pretty much everybody that I came across was pretty friendly. Maybe I'm just a friendly looking guy and they...

Re: AR57 SBR Barrel Length Problem

I'm a little confused by the above post. Did you put a 9mm can on an AR57? Yes. A YHM Cobra M2. I talked to Yankee Hill last week and they said there'd be no problem with it as the pressure levels of 5.7x28 were in the same ballpark with 9mm. The holes, of course, are larger in diameter than they t...

Re: My Dies Come in Today

Loaded some of the empties with the following: 40 Grn. Hornady V-Max 7 Grn. Accurate #7 Wolf SR Magnum primers I headed off to the range with the chronograph and some factory SS197 stuff in addition to my reloads. I started off with the factory ammo and was getting an average of 1950 fps. Then I tr...

Re: AR57 SBR Barrel Length Problem

I wanted to see how well the 9mm suppressor worked on the gun before going to the trouble of altering it. I tried a few different types of washers and finally found some brass ones with no beveling from the stamping process. I put enough of them (about 4) on the threaded part of the barrel to act as...

I clocked it at 1950 fps out of the 11" version, if that helps.

Re: AR57 SBR Barrel Length Problem

That is exactly why I am selling my 11" upper and either getting a 12" or the 6" suppressed upper. I cant put my ranger 2 on thi upper without some mods. Go check out the pics at hkspecialist.com and see how the 12" upper has enough threads for a suppressor. I have seen someone on AR15.com that cut...

Re: AR57 SBR Barrel Length Problem

NEVER, NEVER, NEVER install a can where it is inside the quad rail. It may look cool yes but your firearm will not be able to cool down as shooting with a can I am sure you know. Midwest Industries sell larger diameter rails if you must however I would use a shorter quad rail. Just my 2 cents from ...
