Re: 5.7x28 bolt action

No pics so far, it's still in the drawing board and planning stage. I don't even have any prints drawn up for it yet. My machine shop is not even yet functional.

Re: Reloading equipment for 5.7x28mm

Someone has to find a better way to size these brass. I crunch about 1 in 5 of them with the sizing die. The neck collapses. I am using redding dies on a custom Dillon 650 setup I built. Anyone have any suggestions on what's causing the brass to collapse?

Re: 5.7x28 bolt action

Nope, I figure 200 yards it should be quite accurate enough. If not I need to rework my approach some.

Re: 5.7x28 bolt action

After I got home I read our exchange on a desktop with more detail than my "smart" phone has. The blanks for my project are made by green mountain. The stainless 1/12 .224 blanks cost me about $150 if I recall. It's been over a year since I had a chance to look at it. I am back on the bandwagon sinc...

Re: 5.7x28 bolt action

Ok, gotcha. I am at work now so my responses may be a bit short. I am planning on making a custom rifle from the ground up. Maybe making a form 1 suppressor for it as well. So turning a blank is really part of the plan. I suppose I could pay someone else to do the work, but why? I am a machinst by t...

Re: 5.7x28 bolt action

I am not sure you understand, I pay about $150 for a 1.25" diameter stainless barrel blank. No chamber, no threads, no contouring at all. Just a 30" long straight piece of stainless that has been gun drilled and rifled. That was the best price I could find. I would say if you can find a good price o...

Re: 5.7x28 bolt action

Well, given that I am doing the work myself I would have to defend those "smiths that get a heckuva markup". I see few ethical people making a killing in this business that the very govenrment that requires their own lisence seems to be trying to regulate out of existance. Barrel blanks cost about $...

Re: 5.7x28 bolt action

Looks like I am back in the game! I will have a working shop by summertime for the first time in 6 years!! I have ordered a reamer and headspace gauges and I already have the barrel blank. I plan on making everything from scratch and working on this as a suppressed rifle, so we shall see how it turn...

Re: Dillon 650 reloading

The case feeder tray would likely be a seperate item. Right now we are working on the caliber conversion parts as Dillon sells in one kit. I feel pretty comfortable with what we have on the test machine. We just need two things, one is a list of people who want info, the other is to get the parts we...

Re: Dillon 650 reloading

Yeah my buddies got the program done and ready to go, I have one prototype for testing ready. It needs some minor modifications and I produced some custom locater buttons and some parts for the case feeder. More work to go, but I should have a working test bed in a couple weeks. I know how it is, so...

Dillon 650 reloading

I am taking names of those interested in a caliber conversion kit for the Dillon 650. A freind and I have made some prototype parts and will offer them soon I hope. While we are still in an R&D mode, we would like to gauge how interested folks are in this potential product. Thanks a lot!

Re: 5.7x28 bolt action

Do you have an aproximate total of what you spent? Also contact info for your smith? If I could simply buy a finished gun instead of having one built that would be better of course. I still think I can come up with a magazine well adapter for this that would take FiveSeven mags.

Re: Stock for FN Five Seven

A weapon with a buttstock that has a barrel length of less than 16" and an overall length of less than 26" qualifies as a short barreled rifle. Short shotguns are similar except their barrel lenght is 18" or less. Also once you have attached a buttstock it will always be considered a rifle thereafte...

I don't think so. While I have only handled one, it was several years ago and I don't recall anything about caseless ammo at this demo I was at.

To have relevant data you need to include barrel lengths. How long of a barrel did your AR57 have?

Dillon 550 loading

Has anyone loaded with the Dillon 550 on the 5.7 round? How well does it work with this caliber? I am a machinist and am considering making a 650 shell plate, but wanted some feedback before I take on this little ( expensive) shop project. Would love some real use feedback.

I am with you on this. Though I am personally planning on building my own gun from scratch. I may even go as far as making my own action. I know I will be profiling the barrel. As to those who ask why do it, my answer is twofold. One, because I can. Two it would make a neat suppressed rifle with hig...

has anyone built one of these before? I am seriously thinking of making one for myself. If it flys I might make some for my sisters family to use on varmint guns. I figured I would ask here rather than re-invent the wheel, maybe someone could help me save time and steps in manufacturing. Maybe someo...

Re: Adams Arms Piston System and Gemtech G5

I have an AA piston kit on my gun. I also use it with a suppressor but since my state does not allow SBR's, I needed to perm-attach my can onto my barrel. I can say a few things about this, the supressor does not like short barrels. I have an SWR wolverine. On a 10.5" barrel I got baffle strikes. I ...
