Re: 50 Gr Combined Ballistics Load

Nice work Toaster. I have been loading 5.7 for about a year now, and have worked up some loads similar to yours. Your pics give me some ideas for my own QC that I will add to my practice. FWIW, I use a chrono to test my loads, but based on the data in this website, virtually all of the loads have co...

Re: Why is the FiveseveN so much more expensive...

I could still sell just about every one I could get my hands on at list price. Everyone that shoots mine wants one, and the price doesn't seem to deter them, just the lack of any in the stores.

Re: Size of side pic-rails on the PS90

I spent a lot more than $60 on every size rail I could find that looked close. No dice. I now have a box of various rails for AR builds, and I dropped the $60 on FN proprietary rails and they work great.

Re: If you had to choose...ss197 versus ss198 for hogs

I tend to agree with you. I would lean toward the 198. However, I don't know where you buy your ammo, but I get 197 from PSA for $17.99 a box, and $31.99 is the cheapest I have ever found 198.

Re: Some observations about reloading for the Five Seven

Pumbo, Nice to read about your experience. I just started loading the 5.7 at the beginning of this year, but I have succumbed to the addiction and have gone through a lot of rounds. I'd add a few more observations. I wash the cases in water and simple green for a few minutes, then dry them well, whi...

Re: Favorite 5.7 reloading powder/load?

This thread certainly went off track. Getting back to the OP, I have been able to find some True Blue, and like it. I also bought 5 lbs of de-mil ss190 powder from a de-mil contractor that I buy a lot of stuff from. It is something similar to True Blue, so I spent a long time working up a safe load....

Re: Inconsistent recoil, flash, and ejection

Spiderco, that makes no sense to me that the chrono results are relatively consistent, with inconsistent recoil. My amateur opinion is that you are pushing a 52 grain bullet pretty hard. I get roughly the same velocity with my reloads of 40 grain vmax bullets out of my pistol. That is a brittle bull...

Re: Got my first FNH FiveseveN...

I guess in World War 1, they didn't call it that. It didn't get that name until World War II came along. Mark I is kind of like that. It was just called the USG until the Mark II came along, then the USG became the Mark I. Enjoy it. You can't really go wrong just buying a boat load of ammo from PSA,...

Texas does not have any federally owned public land. There may be some state owned land, but for the most part it is vast swaths of private land.

Re: Varmint Nightmare Bullets

OK, the formatting looks terrible, so I won't post too much till I figure that out. I will skip the 5.1gr and 5.3 gr loads. 5.5gr still gave a good load with no sign at all of over pressure. The spread continues to get larger as the load goes up. I don't really have the knowledge or patience to test...

Re: Varmint Nightmare Bullets

I will try and copy some data from this mornings shoot into this post. Forgive my formatting. It was a perfect slightly overcast day, about mid 60's. All of the rounds fed and functioned great, even at pokey speeds down around 1,400. I set up a target behind the chrono, primarily for the purpose of ...

Re: Varmint Nightmare Bullets

I got up early this morning for a quick loading project before work. I ended up several hours late. Typical. I loaded up 10 rounds each at 4.9, 5.1, 5.3 and 5.5 grains with the 35 gr Hornady NTX bullets, and the same ladder with the 34 gr Varmint Nightmare bullets. After a bit of math, I loaded the ...

Re: iFire's PS90 Load Data

Has anyone tried the 35gr NTX with True Blue? Ifire posted some data on that bullet with other powders, but True Blue is what I have. The bullet is longer than the 40gr Vmax, so with the same OAL I will get more pressure.

Re: New reloader

I had a bad day with the Chrony this morning. It rained most of the night and it was an awesome heavily overcast morning. I went out to the desert and struggled to get anything but ERR on the screen. It recorded a few 5.7 shots, maybe 50% of what I sent through it. It recorded about 5 out of 14 45AC...

Re: Varmint Nightmare Bullets

I'm going to have to rework my load for the 35gr. Hornady. Is it a much longer bullet, and I can't go any longer on the OAL or they won't fit in the mag. It is going to compress the space and work up more pressure. With the Varmint extreme bullets, the OAL will obviously be much shorter.
