There's a potential new source of 5.7x28 casings. Their called Shell Shock LLC, and they have invented a new style of case that uses an aluminum body and a nickel/steel alloy body: https://www.shellshocktechnologies.com/ https://americanhandgunner.com/wp-content/uploads/2017/03/LOAD-1B.jpg http://cd...

Another nice test / data point. Your channel has become my go-to for checking velocities of different loads, really like that you also include the velocities in the video description for easy reference. I'm glad to see that the AE load isn't as anemic out of the P90 as it is out of the FsN, may have...

Perhaps EA would be willing to load some? I'd be more than willing to test.. I was actually thinking it would be some type of modified PS90 trigger pack, rather then using the ECHO. The PS90 uses the same bolt as the P90, and I believe the Gen 2 and 3 trigger packs had that little hammer safety that prevents hammer follow, which is the core part of the Echo trigger that allo...

The issue is expand into what? Even more so when the V-Max does not expand traditionally anyway. Get it going past 1700fps and it will perform. Keep in mind the Ft. Bliss shooter used SS197 that uses the same bullet but slower and he had no issues dropping people. I had read that he used ss192?

The S4 type bullet gives you the best of both worlds: penetration/tumbling and fragmentation. I want the tip to smash flat so it does tissue damage. Don't care one bit about slowing it down. The tip smashing really does not reduce penetration since when you hit something hard the jacket peels back and the core punches through like a hole punch. What type of velocity are you getting with the SS195 out of the PS90? I'm curious if SS198 is worth the $0.10-$0.15 price increase over the SS195 in the PS90.Buffman wrote:I barely get 2500 fps from the PS90 and SS198LF

Thanks for the test! I'd like to see either the same shot out of the PS90, to see how the boost in velocity effects performance, or a shot of 9mm Gold Dot 124gr+p looks compared to the 5.7 as a control test. Awesome, looking forward to both the barrel and the new brass.
When you do the velocity test, will you also include the SS197 and SS198? The Elite Loadings are already so stellar out of the factory barrel that I'm primarily interested in the 7" as a way of improving on the anemic factory velocities.

And also, what type of velocity are you getting out of the 7"? Specifically, SS197, SS198, and S4M?

Relevant quote in regards to the effectiveness of 5.7x28
While this quote really applies to so many things in life, I initially thought of it in regards to the acceptance of the 5.7x28 caliber. "All truth passes through three stages. First, it is ridiculed. Second, it is violently opposed. Third, it is accepted as being self-evident." -Arthur Schopenhauer
