Most have read the epistle, but we reviewed it the 5.7, as ballictics (not regular cops) firearms police from a multiplicity of agencies, none smaller than 5,000. These are people who understand the labwork and have seen the autopsey room too many times. We don't want to play who sprayed the firehy...

Re: Traded up and went to the 10mm, your thoughts?

No i didn't trade my FiveseveN in, duhhh! I traded my glock 31 (.357sig full frame) for TWO Glock 10mm's. I picked up the Glock20C (full size) and its little brother the Glock29 (small frame). The 21C has a standard 15rd capacity that can be adapted for +2 carry, and the 29 holds 10 rounds with the...

I am also aware of the restricted round and it's penetration characteristics. I contemplated loading some up using the same components in 5.56 to test it out on some 1/2" plate steel. 3/8" plate still gets punched by M855 out to 120+ yards. That bullet loaded in .223/5.56 will make M855 look like a...

Re: high power .45auto ammo.

I am of the opinion that the .45 round's advantage lies in large expanded diameters and massive amounts of tissue crushed. As long as the round has sufficient velocity to fully expand and penetrate, it is G2G. I think the last revision of the once dismally performing HST in 230gr standard pressure i...

Re: What's so good about solid copper bullets?

They retain more of their original weight (usually ~95%). In other words, these bullets dont tend to come apart or break up on impact. They are known for reliable and controlled expansion. This property allows for superior penetration while maintaining good expansion. The 28% increased exansion tha...

Re: What's so good about solid copper bullets?

Up Sides Tighter possible tolerances in machining No non-concentric core/jakets Better BC for weight/velocity. Increased effective range. Near 100% weight retention Environmentally friendly (Yay! lol) Down Sides Manufacturing costs Not available loaded from very many manufacturers (yet) Longer lengt...

Re: slugs

Many slugs are "rifled" to promote spin once it leaves the barrel. Some even have a fin attached to promote a consistent flight. Utimately though, you can't can't beat a rifled slug with sabots (accuracywise). Mossberg makes the best rifled slug guns IMHO. I must also say that slugs aren't as power...

In a smooth-bore this would be a no-no. This is a sabot type slug and must be spin-stabalized.

Re: slugs

I would recommend you try Winchester Power Point slugs as well as Remington "Sluggers". These are cheap and readily available. They are also slightly "different" diameters. Don't freak, it is just a few thousandths, my point is, some shotguns have a tighter bore than others depending on the company ...

Re: MILITARY BUCKSHOT AMMO

Using a "Tornado" bore-brush will kill lead FAST in a shotgun barrel. I found that for me, the OOO Remington 3" Buckshot was the star performer out of anything MOD or less. It would keep 70-90% of the pellets on target (12"x14") out to about 45 yards. I was using a Benelli M4 and a Trulock MOD choke...

Re: AR Question if you dont mind.

I have a Colt Match HBAR 5.56 1/9 twist AR-15 Type weapon. I am wondering if anyone knows the longest point that this could be used for target competitions? Maybe 300 yards? Longer? I know this isn't a 5.7X28 Question but I hate going to the AR-15 forum. Any help would be appreciated. Drivesector T...

Re: Ho do you wind down after a hard day at the office?

I go to the gym and beat the hell out of myself on the weights and cardio. I have a lot of stress as a student in the medical field where each thing I do every day has the potential, in and of itself, to end my path. I find that the gym is the only acceptable way of getting this stress out of my sys...
