i didnt know really where to post this, but this seemed the most appropriate to me..

im sure the majority of you other members have seen the latest of the school shootings of late.. i believe it was an adolescent on a "indian reservation" in minnesota yesterday...

killed :
his grandparents
a school employee
a security guard
5 other students
wounded 14 or 15 other students
shot himself after a brief exchange with the police...

im not really why im posting this, except to express my distress over this more commonly occuring trend in the states... are these merely copycats coming out of hiding using the publicity of other similar crimes as "strength"?? is it something in the water?? what the hell is happening to our country??

we have the president of the united states cutting a vaction short and congress and senate holding "emergency" hearings (or whatever) to prolong the "life" of a woman that has been dead for 15 years, and yet we still have soldiers dying in a war that is being fought under false pretenses (id like just one person in a position of importance to come out and say "yanno.. all this shit in the middle east, well , its over oil and the almighty $$) and more self destructive behavior in the countries youth than i can ever remember.. and where is bush's commentary on the slaughter in minnesota yesterday?? it wasnt in my local news paper... was it in yours?

(now, its obvious i am not a huge fan of "W" and the emerging republican ideal.. this does not mean im a huge fan of the whiney ass democrats either... im not trying to pick a fight with anyone, im just really getting unnerved by all these wack jobs and the path this country seems to be on... basically, i just needed to rant for a few and get some of it out... i welcome anything constructive that you have to say, even if it directly opposes what i have said.. as long as it is said politely :wink: )

Isn't illegal to have guns on school grounds? :?

i can almost guarantee that it is for a publically funded school, and i would assume that it is as well for even private/religious schools...

however, people who commit these acts rarely stop to question the legal technicalities of their impending actions i would guess...

I was being sarcastic. It is illegal (in Florida) to carry a gun in a school. My point is that they keep making laws that only hurt us, the people that carry and follow the laws for gun ownership. Laws can't stop drugs or guns.

yeah.. i figured as much (you kidding that is..).. i still dont really know any of you guys on the site yet..

i agree wholeheartedly.. having a rule for a person that evades the rules is counterproductive, a waste of time/energy, and hinders all except those who it was originally aimed at...

Notice the kid was wearing soft armor. Yet another incident where the Five-seveN could have been needed.

Don't forget his grandfather's Police Cruiser. He drove it right up to the school's front door before he went on his rampage.

Seems like I read that the school security guard wasn't even armed. Dang, nowadays these guys should have body armor, stun guns, handgun and shotguns. If I was working in a school as a teacher I sure a hell would be packing.
