The MPAA is now giving out R's for smoking unless the smoking is done in a way to discourage those from picking up the habit.

The power of private industry.. I actually like the idea. Instead of giving kids the wrong message, lets help them to understand that its a deadly and addictive behaviour.
"Tobacco is a filthy weed, from whence the Devil doth proceed;
it stains that hand, it soils the clothes; it makes a chimney of the nose!"
-Oliver Wendel Holmes, Cheif Justice of the Supreme Court
I do agree that smoking is a filthy, disgusting habit, but giving movies an R rating because of smoking is a little over the top.

Hollyweird: Gratuitously glamorize behaviors that almost everyone agrees are not the best to emulate, but slap a label on it in the name of "protecting the children" and call it "good." Then there are those who will gladly accept their six or seven figure paychecks for portraying protagonist characters who embody characteristics that they despise.

Private industry. Were it the government mandating it, I would have a problem. But since its a privately held business, I couldn't care less.

My body my choice!

Sure its your choice, and I wouldn't stand for the government attempting to deny anyone the ability to harm themselves... oops, they already do that. :(
