I sold my tactical on gunbroker to zipcode 33165. He went to a local dealer who wanted me to send a copy of my drivers license before he would accept transfer and also wanted $165 for a transfer (10 percent of purchase price). I don't mind sending my DL, but really 165 for a non NFA transfer. My jaw dropped when the guy told me. I emailed the dealer and he did reply back that it would be 165 for the transfer.

Any reccommendations from you Florida guys?

Yes, sorry for the confusion, my dealer will be sending the firearm to his dealer, that is why I couldn't understand why he wanted my Driver's License. But my big concern was the high transfer fee that he was charging and was trying to find something cheaper for the buyer.

First, I take it you live in Florida too. If you don't live in the State of Florida you are committing a Federal crime not shipping the pistol from an FFL to his FFL. Since we have a few Federal Officers on the forum, I might would re-word the post or maybe edit it. Dealers can charge whatever they want for a transfer. It's normal for a copy of a DL from a non-FFL on a transfer. For the dealer to risk jail time and a loss of his FFL, I think $165 is to cheap. :)

The buyer has to pay the transfer fee on his end so it would be his problem to find a dealer to take the transfer at a price he is willing to pay. If he is willing to pay the high fee then I don't see the problem. At any rate, it's the buyers problem not the seller. Plus if it's going FFL to FFL he does not need anything but your dealers FFL copy, after you turn your gun over to be sent it's the dealers who have to do the deal and you're not involved as it is being transfered from one FFL to the other.
