I read in a Flemish newspaper that FN is forced to shut its production of ammo in its Zutendaal plant because the Flemish governement (at the moment?) does not want to renew its license because of enviromental stuff. Well that's the official line. Something about lead in drinking water and stuff like that. There also have been lots of complaints from neigbours and stuff like that.

Elections coming up in June and some Flemish politicians probably felt they needed to bash a Walloon owned ammo factory. Well. I''ll keep you updated. This is a file in dutch about the license request of FN in 2005 that now has been refused.

But the SS195 has no lead. :)

the water filtration process should take out the lead, if there is lead in the water chances are its caused by a reaction with the distribution system or the pipe network in the house.

The only 5.7x28 round FN makes with lead in it is the SB193, so should not be a big problem to contain the lead from it as they only load it.

On TV there was a interview with a guy from FN who was pissed off since the plant was running at full capacity and order book was filled and now they will have serious problems forfilling those contracts. The 50 people working in the plant will be "technical" unemployed as of monday untill problem is solved but that could take months. There was also a reaction from the president of the French speaking region who says its an electoral stunt from Flemish political parties.
