Thanks, Megatron. I've read through all of the posts and am truly dismayed by the whole "wannabe Rambo" image that some of the hunting "purists" are trying to tar us with. Nearly everyone I know who shoots and collects hi-capacity semi-autos have served their country either as soldiers, sailors, or LEOs. Those who suggest that those who like shooting military-style rifles go "join the Army," are the same cowardly breed who hide behind the flag and sing "God Bless America" at the top of their lungs, all the while bragging about their "macho" exploits by blasting some defenseless animal to hell with a .300 Ultra Mag. while never once facing a shot fired in anger. I used to hunt, and was in fact quite passionate about it. That was until I met my fiancee. Now, I'd much rather spend a cold morning in bed with her than shivering in a tree in a futile attempt to murder some animal who has done absolutely nothing to cause me personal harm. The same cannot be said of the Zumbos and Petzals, who seem intent on destroying our sport. As for hunting, I will fight to my last breath to preserve this beloved tradition, even though I no longer have the love for the sport that I once had. I wish the "traditionalists" or "elitists" would show the sport-shooting and collecting fraternity the same respect. As for my being a "yahoo" or "redneck," I'll let my two advanced degrees and another pending Ph.D. speak for themselves. BTW: I just added a SIG 556 to my collection this week. Fine rifle.

OK first off I have to say one thing about you guys that joined the army or LEO's what ever field it is you went in to that gets you shot at you are all heros. BUT about the comment "while never once facing a shot fired in anger" some of us have.
My view from a innercity situation where you go to sleep every night to gun fire. Diving behind cars when one comes down the street with out its headlights on at night. jumping at every backfire!
You guys left to go to a war zone!
I grew up in one and even if you are a good kid and stick to the books you still cant wear nice clothes/sneakers/baseball cap or a gold cross because you are afraid to get stuck up or shot.
Look the bad guys will always have guns . Out lawing guns is like out lawing Drugs you see how well that worked.
But my point is at the age of 14yrs me and a few of my friends got stuck up by three guys not much older than us that night I saw someone die from a gun and since then i have seen A LOT OF people get shot or shot at and none of the guns these guys had were legal. What gets me I could not defend my self then but now i can And i hate the idea of taking someones life but I DO NOT LIVE IN FEAR ANYMORE well i dont live in the city either but the idea of only Drug dealers and the rest of the scum being the only people with guns scares the SHT out of me .

SO TAKE THESE PEOPLE OUT OF THE SAFE TOWNS,CITYS OR TOWNSHIPS and move them to the south side of READING PA and watch them sweat....and wish they had a gun.......SOUNDS CRAZY but there it is real life :welcome:

You guys got to come home or get to go home I still have dear friends with familys that live in fear every day. That only sleep at night because they have a gun........... :soap:

P.S
ANY FORM OF GUN CONTROL IS A BAD IDEA!

I believe you misread my posts. My problem is with these so-called "patriots" who do nothing but pay lip-service to a Constitution as they would like it to read, rather than the way it reads. As for bad neighborhoods, I lived two blocks from "Pidgeon town" in Uptown New Orleans during the crack heyday of the 1980s, where we averaged three murders per night. In those days, there was no CCW in Louisiana, but I carried my 1911 anyway. So, I didn't necessarily come home to peace and tranquility. I can no longer serve due to a genetic condition that is slowly taking away my ability to walk or even use my hands, so, in that sense, there will be a time when I will no longer be able to shoot. But I will never attempt to deny that right to others, regardlesss of my personal opinions towards their choice in firearms or how they legally use them.

NO sir i did not try to direct that at you and i am sorry if it felt that way i just had to make the statement and it felt like the right time. Thank you for your concern. It seems that stem cells are the key to treating my condition. I pray for the best, but expect the worst. I'll keep going for as long as I can. I do agree with you on your basic point, that any form of gun control only serves the criminals. I'm also glad you were able to rise up out of that hellhole. Take care.

My response to him:

I'm not sure what 'apology' it was that you read, but the one I did was nothing BUT excuses, equivication, and justification.

You and Dumbo are one and the same, Fudd's with an elitist attitude.

Yup, you are right. One strike on the right topic and you ARE out. In fact, I think I'll call the pitch on you... and... its... a STRIKE!

You're outta here!

Goodby, and good luck. I hear that the Brady's are looking for a new blogger. Perhaps you should send your resume'.
