Was watching Future Weapons on the TV tonight, and had to laugh at the Advert for HK it turned out to be.

Had a segment on PDW's, and the host was talking to a HK Rep, both of them was saying that HK invented the PDW pretty much, that it was unique, and the only sort of weapon of that nature out there.

You'd think they would have at least mentioned the P90/5.7 platform.

20 years too late, and a dollar behind..

Shows such as this are the reason I stopped watching T.V....

lots of hype on that show, the first season was more objective at reporting, now it is just a sensational fest. I won't watch it anymor, too much drama and and overacting.
the worst show on weapons is the military channel, "weaponology" lots of BS and old myth being spit out by so called PHD experts.

MO was on the phone with me when it came on. we talked about what a jackass he and the show is. Then lamented how we both missed "History of the Gun" series

That show was OK (it had a cool factor) but it was more like a 10 minute commercial for HK.

The funny thing is, is that HK does not like outsiders away from military and LE coming to their facilities. With this in mind (1). it smells of desperation on the part of HK to get some face time out there and (2). with being allowed into the HK kingdom, the host was not about to bad mouth them or let on that there was a other / better system out there.

FN beat HK to the punch on the PDW front. With the P90 being a far better system (cause for a completely different thread), the 5.7X28 round being far more effective and HK being extremely overpriced and a pain to deal with; it looks like the MP7 is going to fizzle out like the G11. How many countries do you know of that use the MP7 compared to the P90?

More can be read on both the P90 and the MP7 at http://world.guns.ru/smg/smg49-e.htm

Welcome to the forum. I think we know all of that. :D

Knight's little PDW looks to have some promise.

They do have some cool toys on the show, like the tavor, and that box with the water in it that throws the IEDs out of a car trunk.

I'd call it "smaller [than an assault rifle]" but wouldn't necessarily describe it as "little."

yeah, the mp7 looks like an uzi imo. unless you pull back the stock, your basically in a pistol config with a long magazine sticking towards the bottom. And like what Ryan said, id rather have more than 20 rounds. If thats the case, i'd just have the fiveseven w/ 30 round magazine.

HMMM. I think its to close to 5,56MM in my opinion to be such an advantage. Remember the 5,7MM is a replacement for 9MM and not for 5,56MM. The Nato definition of PDW requires the bullet to fit in a hand-gun. Doesn't mean ofcourse that it is a bad rifle.
