I thought I noticed this last week but the guns were just moving too fast. On tonight's episode, however, there were several good shots and it's clear that the military on Battlestar Galactica is carrying the FiveseveN. Okay, it has an attachment on the rail that can fire explosive rounds, but it's still a FiveseveN.

I can only assume that the Sci Fi channel has friends at FN. It's a well known fact that Stargate uses the heck out of the P90 but their sidearms aren't FiveseveNs. Interesting to see them on BSG but not the P90.

Weapons are typically provided by prop companies such as ISS (see http://www.issprops.com/weapons.htm) not manufacturers.

At one time in the filming of SG1(during the time when the charector Sam Carter used the custom LaFrance M16K,and the only P90 was reserved for O'neal) it was a real possibility that they were going to completely drop the P90 due to lack of availibility of the 5.7 blanks.
But it is evident that was long since rectified by even more shows (SG Atlantis) from the same production company adopting the P90 . I do find it strange in a story line sense that they carry P90's paired with M9 berettas......if you are only able to carry so much on your visits to other places why two calibers of very light small arms? I could see it it it were an M16 or M249 paired with a M9 as there is no hope of ammo interchangeability between rifle and pistol in a govt issue setting. But for the same reason that a cowboy in the middle of nowhere in 1890 benefitted from his SAA revolver and his new fangled winchester rifle eating the same ammo....so too would someone in a fictional setting of SG1.

I seem to remember some security guys on BSG having P90s. Maybe the epsiode where they were deciding if the terrorist guy could become President.
