I have to find the exact quote pertaining to this, but I read that SS192 may be able to pierce class 2 armor and not class 3. Has anyone read or heard anything to verify this?

I am supposing that this is true, hence all the hype surrounding the discontuation of 192.

Any info out there, or any actual ballistics tests? I read the other current post about the BATF conducting a test with SS192, and determining that it does pierce armor... but they never said what that armor was rated at.

Level 1, Level 2A, and Level 2, are not at all resistant to SS192
the typical L2 vest is 22 layers......I have tested it doubled up (44 layers)
at 15 yards and it will still make it through (just barely) and be stopped in the first phone book behind it. a typical 3A vest is 48 layers.
If a hard armor insert is worn with the L2 it will defeat the bullet and prevent penetration.(if the bullet hits the insert) The true combat round ,SS190 AP when fired from a five seven will penetrate 48 layers of Kevlar(IIIA) at 50 yards, and 6" to 9" of the person wearing it.(200 yards for the P90 firing SS190)
On the L2 it will go through the 22 layer panel and through two 900 page phone books placed behind. this is the new condition L2 result
