I am curious to know what the PS90 is/will be classified as (Assult Rifle, Rifle, Submachine Gun, etc.)

I live on the outskirts of Columbus. Actually, in the Groveport/Obetz/Canal Winchester area. Columbus, OH recently approved an assult weapons ban. Not sure if the PS90 is included or not. Not clear if it would even apply to me since I live outside the city. Although, Columbus Police Departments is who responds to my area for emergencies.

Info on the recent Assult Weapons Ban for Columbus OH:

From the PDF

WHEREAS, among these military-style features is a well-defined, conspicuously protruding pistol grip that is
designed to assist in controlling the weapon during rapid fire or one-handed firing, while the vast majority of
sporting firearms employ a more traditional pistol grip built into the wrist of the stock of the firearm since
one-handed shooting is not usually employed in hunting or competitive target competitions; and

WHEREAS, use of the language “a pistol grip that protrudes conspicuously beneath the receiver of the weapon”
in the definition of an “assault weapon” in this ordinance is intended to distinguish between these two types of
pistol grips; and

--------

(1) Semi-automatic rifle that has the capacity to accept a detachable magazine and has one or more of the
following:
(a) A pistol grip that protrudes conspicuously beneath the receiver of the weapon;
(b) Any feature capable of functioning as a protruding grip that can be held by the non-trigger hand
(c) A folding, telescoping or thumbhole stock;
(d) A shroud attached to the barrel, or that partially or completely encircles the barrel, allowing the bearer to hold
the firearm with the non-trigger hand without being burned, but excluding a slide that encloses the barrel; or
(e) A muzzle brake or muzzle compensator;

Yep - it would be covered. You could say that its not a "protruding grip", but they say on page 2 or 3 that they consider a protruding grip to aid in one handed firing, which the grip on the p90 allows for. The wording of this has the stench of the VPC and Brady Bunch all over it – and they have done their research on how to word laws to screw you and me.

IF you could win on the grip issue, they could still come back on you with the shroud issue.

Assault Rifle means whatever they determine it to mean this week, anyone who has spent time around guns knows a semi-auto AR15 is a rifle and a select fire M16 is an assault rifle among other names. the basic IDEA of an assault rifle is select fire, however if it suits the gun grabbers to change the definition of the SCARY words (such as assault rifle) than it is now an assault weapon because Brady's followers thinks it should be. So all you can do is keep up on the bills as they get introduced because i would not be suprised to see a new meaning for the SCARY word directed specifically at the P90 or the entire 5.7 family, the whole armor piercing thing will come back as if a .223 or pretty much any other rifle caliber couldn't go through level II armor.

I wished I lived in washington (Ohio this time) so I could make up my own new definitions for words that already exist.

by the way nice pic I am jealous I dont know of anywhere in VA to rent Class III so I never get to play. :(

maybe my memory is failing me but Ohio lists muzzle brakes in addition to flash suppressor and the whole barrel shroud thing is also different from the Clinton ban. you guys are really suckin in Columbus I dont even see a way around it for bastardized AR15s ect. ... sorry

Ohio never ceases to amaze me. I live in Louisville but frequently travel to Cincinnati and have been following the gun laws there for some time. In a state typically controlled by Republicans, Ohio somehow manages to have gun laws look like something you'd see in California or Massachusetts.

At some point, I'd hope that you guys can elect some politicians that believe in the second amendment.

As for your current situation, I'm sorry to see that it appears the PS90 will be banned in your area.

The Rep who was behind the CCW law is trying to get a bill passed to prevent cities, such as Kolumbus, from enacting more restrictive gun laws then the State has in place. This would nullify the stupidity done in Kolumbus.

here is a link to what sounds like a seperate lawsuit attacking the bill a different angle

hope this helps. good luck i hope the law gets struck down in time (AUG 11 it takes effect right?) your ban is worse than the Clinton ban.
