Here is a piece I received from GOA. As predicted, with the new Senate and House, our fight is just beginning.

THE BARBARIANS HAVE TAKEN THE HILL

The Brady Bunch is already licking their collective lips in
anticipation of the new Congress being seated. Visit the Brady
Campaign's website and you will see talk of a "momentum
shift" in our
nation's capital that will "make it hard for the gun lobby to weaken
gun laws and creates opportunities for passage of common sense [sic]
gun proposals."

Indeed, the attack has already begun.

BRADY BUNCH ATTACKING GOA

Earlier this month, the Brady Campaign asked the Federal Election
Commission to investigate GOA's practice of posting its candidate
ratings on the Internet. Millions of gun owners rely on these
ratings, and that is something the Brady Bunch would like to halt.

In 2002, the Bradys rejoiced when Congress passed the Incumbent
Protect Act, stating that "now the gun lobby's stranglehold on
Congress will be broken." Indeed, they want to make it illegal for
GOA to tell gun owners what their legislators are actually doing.

But it should not surprise anyone that a group which doesn't
understand the Second Amendment does not understand First Amendment
freedoms as well.

Realize that we are going to need your help more than ever in 2007.
Because of this recent Brady assault, we could be looking at a very
costly court battle that could eventually go all the way to the
Supreme Court.

Gun Owners is not going to back down, however, from the Brady
Campaign's intimidation tactics. We realize that these candidate
ratings are extremely important, for they force your legislators to
stay in the light.

But the Brady Bunch wants to keep you in the dark! They don't want
you to know the truth. The more they can hide what anti-gun
legislators are doing, the greater their ability to take away your
guns.

Oh sure, they say they just want to take guns out of the "wrong
hands." Yeah right. If that were true, then why don't they support
legislation to repeal the DC gun ban?

The answer is obvious, they support the DC gun ban, and they want to
export it to the rest of the country. Do you remember them joining
with us to work for the DC gun ban's repeal? Of course not! Do you
remember seeing them on our amicus brief to strike down the recent
San Francisco handgun ban? No way! They support gun bans, despite
all their claims for only supporting "common sense" gun
restrictions.

For them, "common sense" gun control means that only the police and
the military have free access to guns... just like in England.

GOA SUPPORTING BILL TO REPEAL NATIONAL PARKS GUN BAN

Well, GOA is going to stand in their way, even if it means that we
have to fight a lone battle for gun owners, as we did earlier this
year when we were the ONLY gun group in Washington opposing the
McCarthy gun grab.

Even now, there is still work to be done. GOA helped Sen. George
Allen (R-VA) draft legislation to repeal the gun ban in national
parks. (Two other Virginia groups -- Virginia Gun Owners and VCDL --
did a lot of heavy lifting on this issue as well.) There is little time
left for this legislation to pass, so gun owners should call Senate
Majority Leader Bill Frist (R-TN) at 202-224-3344 (or fax him at
202-228-1264) and ask him to fast track the Allen bill (S. 4057).

BIG THREAT POSED BY DEMOCRAT ANTI-GUN CONGRESS

But the real challenge to our gun rights is that we will have to
spend a good bit of the next two years fighting defensive battles, as
we will see the following types of legislation:

* Bans on ammunition

* Expansion of the Brady data base to include the names of countless,
law-abiding gun owners

* A re-authorization of the semi-auto gun ban (a ban which President
Bush is on record as supporting!)

* A prohibition on gun shows

* A gun ban that will prohibit any handgun from being sold which can
not be "personalized" -- thus preventing loved ones from using a
spouse's firearm in an emergency.

All of these ideas were introduced by Democrat congressmen this past
year. With their new majority, you can expect these bills -- and
others -- to start moving quickly.

STOPPING BRADY EXPANSION JUST GOT MUCH TOUGHER

Because of your efforts, GOA was able to single-handedly kill the
Brady expansion this year. The bill was introduced by Rep. Carolyn
McCarthy (D-NY) and was expected to pass easily. It was considered
to be "non-controversial" because pro-gun lobbyists in Washington
were telling legislators they could vote for the bill.

But congressmen didn't hear that from Gun Owners. You can read the
details in our upcoming newsletter, to find out just how we fought
the lone battle to kill this pernicious piece of legislation.

The December issue of The Gun Owners will encourage those of you who
are already receiving our newsletter. However, you should realize
that the attacks on our gun rights are about to escalate, as a result
of the new Congress that was just elected.

With only GOA opposing this insidious gun grab, it is going to be a
lot harder to stop in the new Congress.

GOA NEEDS YOUR SUPPORT!

As you can see, GOA is going to need a huge war chest over the next
two years, if we are going to stay in the fight and protect your
Second Amendment rights -- as well as GOA's ability to keep you and
the public informed.

The FEC court battle alone could cost thousands upon thousands of
dollars. In real terms, we could be fighting battles at every level
of the federal government -- in the legislative, judicial and
executive branches. (Don't think for a moment that President Bush --
who is himself a supporter of the semi-auto gun ban -- is going to
lift a finger to help us.)

We look forward to the fight, but we can't fight these battles
without YOU. Our members are our strength. It is because of you
that one legislative office told us this year: "Oh s--t! We got a
lot of postcards and e-mails from GOA members."

That answer right there explains why the McCarthy gun grab is dead
for the year! It is because of your hard work.

So will you continue to stand with us?

Please say that you will by going to
http://www.gunowners.org/ordergoamem.htm and signing up or renewing
your membership. A $20 membership with Gun Owners of America is the
best bargain in town. For a mere nickel a day, you will be helping
to preserve your gun rights for future generations.

Or maybe you've been with us for a while and you want to make the
ultimate contribution to the organization that is standing firm on
the front lines. Would you consider becoming a Life Member of Gun
Owners?

In addition to getting our newsletter, The Gun Owners, special
reports, legislative action updates and all the other regular
benefits of membership, Life Members will also receive a certificate
-- suitable for framing -- identifying you as a GOA Life Member, a
unique lapel pin, and a wallet card that only Life Members and Senior
Staff at GOA are allowed to carry.

Maybe you've never received our informative newsletters and
legislative alerts (with postcards). If that's the case, you can
start receiving those right away by signing up today with a $20
contribution -- or more, if you can afford it.

Your contribution will NOT be wasted.

Senator David Vitter of Louisiana has said that: "Gun Owners of
America is one of the most effective and important political
organizations in this country.... [They] can mobilize gun owners from
all across America, uniting them into a single powerful voice that
politicians in Washington dare not ignore."

We've been fighting for your rights, without compromise, for more
than 30 years!

But we need you now more than ever. We need you to say that you will
stand with us and work together to protect the rights that have
helped keep our nation free for so long.

Thank you in advance for your support!

Remember, this is from GOA, but I also heavily advocate NRA, as many of us do. Both organizations are solid. This info. was quite disturbing which is why I advocated a previous post that many of us here denounced as scare tactics because ultimately Brady wants them all banned. So, essentially, all of it is true.

What defensive fight?

All I read in that e-mail alert is INNUENDO. In fact this is nearly identicle to one's I received two years ago, with nothing more than a few names changed. Now I am a LIFE MEMBER GOA, but I am sick of their fear-mongering and sending me thrice-monthly donation solicitations..

There is not a shred of evidence of any conspiracy amongst lawmakers to introducy ANY anti-gun laws, either in the national media or in this "alert." In fact, Nancy Pulhosi recently said there would be no "gun control" legislation debated in the house in the next two years..

Its an ADVERTISEMENT made with the intent of scaring people into sending donations, nothing more; nothing less. And I for one TRULY RESENT IT.

Make a rational point, ask for donations, thats all fine. But don't make up stories in order to scare me into doing something. Things like that cause me send my donations elsewhere, and change my opinion of the organization who "cry's wolf."

I am also a life member of JPFO, however they have outright lied so many times in the last year that I now withhold all donations from them. I refuse to spend another dollar on an organization that outright lies to my face, and then hits me up for money. If I wanted to be lied to and stolen from, I would engage a street-bum in conversation. At least then I would see the knife coming that sticks me in the ribs..

I fully agree with MO here and I'm glad someone finally said it. I'm disgusted by all the pandemic " The Sky is Falling" advertising that we all receive from all the "gun rights" organizations. I've have to investigate most of this crap because I don't trust them anymore. I receive more junk from these guys on a weekly basis than I do from the credit card and mortgage companies.

I'm a life member of NRA and an old contributor to Alan Gottliebs CCRKBA organization. I'm back and forth on both organizations and they both (along with GOA) drive me nuts. These groups are political operative organizations and strive on "the bad times". I'll step out on a limb here and state that "I'm sure many of them are thrilled with the outcome of the election". They need the environment of fear to keep the checks clearing.

I'm watchful of the political change and I'm no fool. I'm not going to sit back and "hope for the best". However, power is every politicians objective. 15 years ago, the dems lost most of theirs - much because of the their gun control position. They will not take the same path again. They do fear the people though and will look for other ways to reign in our ability to use our freedoms and I believe that they will do this through the UN. This gives them something to blame other than themselves. The UN has all kinds of nice, big happy family BS goals that end our way of life as we know it.

Personally, I think civil war on our own soil is the only option left that may actually wake Americans up to what we have lost. And let's not kid ourselves and hope for this. No one individual will be able to stand on his own even though it will most likely start out that way. Me and my AK47 don't stand a chance against 15 operatives with 20K in gear attached to each one of them. My only hope is that all the men we have deployed in holes around the world actually make it home before this happens. We are going to need them.

I'm rambling and off topic at this point so I'll shut up now.

Sabian-

You are saying what I've been thinking for some time. When it comes down to it, the Libtards know they don't have to do anything in the Congress when they can wait for UN resolutions that will be ratified as treaty by a receptive House and President.

At that point the only option left would be to remove the current corrupt government (non-violently, of course  ) and replace it with a constitutionally observant one.

When that time comes we will need every good man currently overseas redeployed to the Homeland to ensure that Foreign Powers (i.e. the UN, EU, Russian Federation, PRC, PRNK, etc.) do not control what government is installed after the Coup de gras. Our destiny as a nation is dependant upon our being able to secure our borders from foreign aliens and subversive groups, and for that matter, domestic ones too..

Dito's Here sabien and M.O.. Remember the oath of office that they have sworn to uphold? "To defend the Constitution from all enemies , foriegn and DOMESTIC"!!!!!
I too see many "problem" areas arising both home and abroad. All we can hope for is for the majority of americans to finally wake up and VOTE for the people who will do what they have sworn.
And God help us all if we don't.

I thought my vote for Bush (both times) was a good one.... Not that there were any other options, but I'm sadly disappointed at what we have gotten out of that choice.

I don't understand 75% of what he has done, but I was thrilled with John Bolton - his choice as our UN rep. He is a guy that understood what needed to happen there and I hoped he would keep the UN at bay for a while longer. Well it looks like the bad guys have gotten to him as well. My fellow patriots, it is a sad day. We are losing and I'm not sure why.

Totally agree with all of you. I've been thinking the same thing day in and day out. The only way to restore our country to its original constitutional roots would be a civil war. Do I think it could happen in the next 5 years... probably not. In the next 10? who knows. But 20 years, I think it is possible.

Thanks for putting your money where your mouth is - and giving to these orginizations.

Most ‘rights’ organizations use scare tactics to …well, to scare up business.

While at first blush, this may seem to be an underhanded tactic – its really not. The contributions given today, due to emails such as this, will over the next few years build the infrastructure needed to stave off the coming threats on the horizon. Once the threat is serious, then contributions will do little if anything.

Money given now will be worth many more times that it would be a month or so before an AWB (or 50 cal ban or 5.7X28 mm ban) is to voted on.

Killbot!!! The sky is falling, the sky is fallling!! But if you give money to me now, I guarantee I will attempt to try and stop it from happening! Of course if the sky doesn't fall today, the money you send to me will be saved and used in the event that it does happen!

Killbot, I'm not sure how to take your opening sentence. I have not only put my money where my mouth is NUMEROUS TIMES, but I have bled, sweat, strained, and teared for this nation at home and abroad. Nor am I sure how to desipher your logic. Underhanded is underhanded, there is no 'just' form of lying. Were I to tell you that your head were on fire in order to scare you into paying me to put it out, I would be guilty of FRAUD. That the money may be used, sometime in the future, for a 'noble cause' is irrelevant. The end does NOT justify the means.

I suggest you rethink your logic on this one. To say that it is ok to lie to someone in order to solicit funds from them expecting to use it in the future is criminal. But more than that it undermines any kind of trust in the organisation.. Who else does things of this nature? CON ARTISTS, Politicians, theives... I'm not sure I want to keep that kind of company.

For the record, I am a life member GOA, JPFO, SAF, NRA (Benefactor and Patron). I have put my money where my mouth is, and it tastes like ashes. All they do is lie to me while capitulating with the enemy.

Oh, and pray tell, what is it that YOU have done to 'put your money where your mouth is???'

I think the philosophy being debated here is known as "Crying Wolf". If I remember the story correctly, Grandpa didn't come running anymore when the wolf finally did decide to eat Peter.

The Boy Who Cried Wolf

There once was a shepherd boy who was bored as he sat on the hillside watching the village sheep. To amuse himself he took a great breath and sang out, "Wolf! Wolf! The Wolf is chasing the sheep!"

The villagers came running up the hill to help the boy drive the wolf away. But when they arrived at the top of the hill, they found no wolf. The boy laughed at the sight of their angry faces.

"Don't cry 'wolf', shepherd boy," said the villagers, "when there's no wolf!" They went grumbling back down the hill.

Later, the boy sang out again, "Wolf! Wolf! The wolf is chasing the sheep!" To his naughty delight, he watched the villagers run up the hill to help him drive the wolf away.

When the villagers saw no wolf they sternly said, "Save your frightened song for when there is really something wrong! Don't cry 'wolf' when there is NO wolf!"

But the boy just grinned and watched them go grumbling down the hill once more.

Later, he saw a REAL wolf prowling about his flock. Alarmed, he leaped to his feet and sang out as loudly as he could, "Wolf! Wolf!"

But the villagers thought he was trying to fool them again, and so they didn't come.

At sunset, everyone wondered why the shepherd boy hadn't returned to the village with their sheep. They went up the hill to find the boy. They found him weeping.

"There really was a wolf here! The flock has scattered! I cried out, "Wolf!" Why didn't you come?"

An old man tried to comfort the boy as they walked back to the village.

"We'll help you look for the lost sheep in the morning," he said, putting his arm around the youth, "Nobody believes a liar...even when he is telling the truth!"

See the point? You can't lie regularly (even if its 'for the greater good') and expect to be believed when the "wolf" really does come prowling...

Wow, thanks!

To be compared to Rush Limbaugh is quite an honor, even if its a dubious one.

And pray tell whom should I compare you to?

Why do I get the feeling that 'butt nugget' is the account of some former (banned) member, or a current one having fun?

Regardless, I will steer the conversation back on track.

When an organization purposefully lies in order to gain support it looses credibility. When too much credibility is lost people cease to take it seriously. When that happens it becomes a liability to those that it was origionally concieved to help. I would say that GOA, NRA, and most definately JPFO have crossed the line. I can no longer take seriously anything they say, and so I don't.

Shame on me I guess.

Crazy thing is they don't need to lie. Just telling the truth of what they say and print is enough
