So says the Westboro Baptist Church of Topeka Kansas.

Here is a partial transcript of their spokesman being interviewed by Hannity and Colmes last night:

I will reserve my comment on these oxygen theives until the rest of you guys have had your say. I will also be making my next blog on this subject.

My first thought is"pop" right between the eyes with 12guage. I have an ordained Minister for over 16 years. It make me sick beyond believe when _____ like these (no word can describe them) speak and claim to be servants of God. They don't even know the meaning of Word of God, much less be able to quote it. My words to them, "I don't judge you that is up to God, I'm the judgement". Bang with the shotgun.

I know its wrong, but I wish bad things upon these people.

IMHO this sort of sickness doesn't even deserve comment. I'm disappointed in Fox (which I watch regularly) for even giving this crap air time.

The problem is freedom of speech. They can use it does not mean we have to listen.

I followed btown's rationale last night and tuned out those morons. I'm familiar with them, as they tried to protest at the funeral of one of our local Guardsmen killed in Iraq. Local motorcycle clubs, under the umbrella of some natiowide group whose name I can't recall offhand, formed a shield around the mourners so they wouldn't have to deal with that crap. Self-righteous jerkoffs like that, pretending to be Christian, are no better than Islamofacists.

So by their rationale if someone decides to smoke one of these wastes of space then it will be simply God's judgement?

I wager they would see things differently then.

Doc-

The group you are thinking of is the "Patriot Guard Riders" who are comprised of Veterans with motorcycles.

Good group. They go to funerals where Phelps and his ass holes announce that they will infest with the intention of shielding the mourners from being taunted and harrassed.

Yeah, Phelps is bad, and were I to decide that the social contract that keeps me civil were no longer valid, he and his would be the focus of my first stop... The funny thing is were someone to pop one of them, and were caught, I can't think of a single jury that would convict that person. Jury nullification to the max...

Thanks for reminding me, MO. It was nice to see them shielding the grieving family with American flags and doing their best to respect the solemn dignity of the occasion, while Phelps and his stooges stood across the street and shrieked like howler monkeys being sodomized with a hot curling iron. I admire the ability of the "Patriot Guard Riders" to keep their cool under such circumstances, especially when all of us would like to rake the whole bunch with a Ma Deuce. I was lucky that all of mine came home this time, but had they pulled this at the funeral of one of my family members, the grave diggers would have had a couple of extra days' work. I'd claim temporary insanity because, at the time, I was (and still would be) convinced that I had done the right thing. And remember, those that like condemning others to Hell are closer to damnation than those they would condemn. I'd like to know how many skeletons (probably from little boys) are in Phelps's closet.

Medula Oblongata

There's no skeletons in Phelps closet.. All the little boys are still tragically alive and writhing in agony...

Yup, the Patriot Guard Riders are PATRIOTS in the truest sense of the word.

They are arriving here in Rochester (actually the town of Brighton) for a funeral of an Army Lt. that died last week. The Patriots, Fire Department(his father was a long time member), Police and local citzens are also going to be there to pay their respects and place a bearer between trash and the family. I was planning to go to the funeral orginally, but not now. I have been so mad and upset at these people since I first heard of them. They are a disgrace to the Church, to the Country and mankind. If they started something, I'm not really sure I wouldn't react "strongly". I don't lose my cool very easily, however I boil just thinking about what they have done to so many families. My payers go out to the family. My thanks and gratitude for those that will be standing in the gap between the trash and the family.

Unfortunately, I believe these folks would revel in the death of one of their own. I cannot imagine the depths of depravity that must rest in their soul.

Can you imagine what a "Bible study" must be like, with them in private?

I new that church sounded familair when I first started reading the post. If I say them protesting as a funeral I would oww them down with my jeep.

If they can excercise free speech so can I with my big steel bumper

A new law in Pennsylvania that keeps demonstrators at least 500 feet away from the funeral service.

A group planning to protest at Captain Resh's funeral was a no- show today. Members of the Kansas-based Westboro Baptist Church were nowhere to be seen. And many say that was a relief. WFMZ's Eve Tannery explains. It was a funeral home surrounded by American flags... Holding them were the men and women of the Patriot Guard Riders, motorcyclists who come from all over as invited guests of the family.

...If they can excercise free speech so can I with my big steel bumper

A steel bumber striking a person is lacking the 'speech' part guaranteed in 'freedom of speech.'

I don't agree with them, nor do I like what they are doing, but I like the guv'ment prohibiting it even less. The very thought of a 'free speech zone' is abhorrent to me. The entire country, from sea to shining sea, is a free speech zone. To prohibit the free excercise thereof is an abomination to the Constitution. The right to protest anything at anytime and anyplace was of such importance to the founding fathers that it was the first issue addressed in the Bill of Rights. More important even than the RKBA.

Remember that.

There is no 'slippery slope' when you start banning free speech. At that point you have already slid down to the bottom and there is no way to get back up.. Claw all you will, but when was the last time that the guv'ment 'relaxed' any law or rule they have created?

hahaha..

You're funny.

Now, be real. How many states have even repealed co-habitation laws, or sodomy laws?? Did you know that its still illegal within San Francisco to tie a Giraffe to a street light? Or to walk an Elephant through town on Tuesday. In Arizona its a crime to ride a horse into a saloon unless the owner is paid $5. Also in Arizona, one may not breed horses within 500 feet of a saloon or hotel unless privacy screens are provided.

In nebraska it is illegal to harpoon whales on Sunday.

Lets get real here, and discuss the fact. When the government is capable of creating 'free speech zones' and arresting those who speak outside of them, liberty is no longer the law of the land. Control and oppression are. That we don't like what someone else says doesn't mean we should try to illegalize that. We grow a thick skin and ignore it.

I am one of those weirdos who would applaud the attempt to silence these folks, but would defend their sick speech with (reserved) violence.

As much as I hate their message, thank God I live in a place where they are free to say it. Goose/Gander, et al.

Although, it is easy to be altruistic at a distance. Should that man of honor at the funeral be someone over whom I'd shed a tear, my story might be played on the 6 o'clock along with the "Tragedy of the Hilsboro. "

I have been in attendance at a solemn occaison where the Hillsborough assholes attended. I welcomed them to be respectful... at a distance.. with my HK USP 45...

Nevertheless, their right to speak is tempered by my right not to listen.

"My name is profaned by the Gentiles because of you" ..

and it's true. i'm agnostic and wince everytime i hear the word Christian because these types are the most vocal. they've stolen the religion, at least the public face of it. i was raised Christian and came to doubt the details but have always striven to practice the examples shown by the story of Christ. but these wingnuts don't even come close to resembling it.

i didn't get what her beef was except the Pa governor. is she saying everyone in Pa gets the whammy because of that? or are they hating on everyone that *dies*, period? is it like death is the mark of sin therefore funerals are to be mocked?

the name Phelps sounds familiar but not sure why..

Medula Oblongata
02-16-2007, 06:48 PM
Phelps is the "minister" of the Westborough 'Baptist' Church of Topeka Kansas. He made national headlines by protesting the fineral of a homosexual college student in Laramie Wyoming who was beaten to death and nailed to a fence because he tried to 'pick up' one of his attackers at a bar. I believe the kids name was Matt Sheppard. Then Phelps grabbed another headline when he successfully sued the State of Wyoming (Unamimous decision of the Supreme Court) into allowing him to erect a memorial to Matt's death, including sound effects of Matt 'burning in hell.'

Phelps and his bunch also claim that their compound was bombed in the late 90's, although the bomber was never identified. Specualtion is that they did it themselves to allow a law suit against the county sheriff who refused to follow up on their complaints against neighbors.

awesome bunch, and awesome idea... very worthy cause..

man you guys are into speed, cool!! are fj's the ones with the downdraft carbs? i remember "fz's" with those.. i rode a friend's cbr1000 on thanksgiving, pretty impressive but a lil heavy for me. blew by his house on 1 wheel though, they were trippin :)

i haven't had a bike since high school (i'm 44yo granny now), it was an 11-second rd400, tz350 crank, reverse pedals the whole 9 (it was *not* a sleeper, it would wake the dead)not as quick as today's 'burners, but not bad for 1/3 the size.. it broke my heart when they stopped making 2-strokes or i'd prolly have a bike today. wish i never sold it.

FsN owners seem to have a certain profile.. free spirits who love horsepower :) alot of us also seem to have that "my other gun is a 10mm" sticker on our safes :)
