Reported on all the major networks that 4 dead including the shooter at an amish school in PA. This makes it 3 within a week. Have a funny feeling we are going to be playing some defense after the election.

just read about it on the news today

I just got home from work, checked the news and saw this. My first thought was "wasn't that in Wisconsin?" and then realized it was ANOTHER shooting. Thinking about these school shootings and a separate thread on guns in libraries - maybe such places are targets precisely BECAUSE the bad guys know that no one will be armed and they can wreak maximum havoc before they take their own pathetic f****d-up lives.

I have a CCW permit but it expressly forbids carrying at a school or on school property. Maybe if some of the staff at these schools were trained and armed there would at least be a fighting chance for the unarmed kids and faculty. Anyone courageous enough to take a gun away from someone (as did the custodian, Dave Thompson, in the Wisconsin incident) would have my confidence to be trained, armed and trusted to do the right thing when someone comes into a school with a weapon.

Of course, that would require the bleeding heart libs (as in those who will blame GUNS for these tragedies and make all kinds of excuses for the pieces of s***t who pull the trigger) to accept the fact that having competent, law-abiding citizens with guns is a GOOD thing for the safety of our children.

I defer to the experience of the LEOs on the forum who will certainly have better answers to this problem than mine, but I feel we need to do SOMETHING to better defend our kids and our teachers against these sicko's. :soap:

firearms on school property is not allowed here either

NY State law prohibits firearms on any school property, public or private. Here in Rochester they have City Police Officers assigned to each school in addition to Security Officers. Some of the Town Schools in the County do also. Armed Police Officers in school were only "Officer Friendly" a couple of times a year when I was in school.

Shooting little girls in an Amish school before taking his own pathetic, useless life. Quite possibly the ultimate act of cowardice.

not possibly, it is the ultimate act of cowardice

The first thing he did was to rape the little girls, then murder them.

I'm glad he's dead by his own hand. Ahmish society does not condone cooperation in prosecutions against criminals who assault, rape, or murder the Ahmish. The children and their parents wouldn't have testified had he been captured...

I am reminded of a comment I read in a newspaper some years ago.

The Ahmish in PA were being targeted by burglars and theives, because the crooks knew that the Ahmish wouldn't resit even if they were discovered in the act by the homeowner.

The story goes that a burglar had vilated an Ahmish family's home, and while ransacking it looking for valuables, the burglar looked up to see the man of the house holding an old shotgun, leveled at him.

The burglar, knowing that the gentle people that lived there did not believe in violence, yelled at the man, asking him what he thought he was going to do.

The Ahmish man said; "Friend, not for all the world would I harm thee, but thou are standing where I am about to shoot..."

I totally respect true pacifists, buddhists, Ahmish, and others. One that would actually die rather than harm another is a man of conviction. However, I am a coward and wish to live. I wish my children to be free from harm and could not stand any assault of them. Whether that makes the Ahmish a "better" man, or myself, well thats a judgement I'm not willing to make. I will meet my Lord someday, and if I have been wrong, I will accept my punishment with my head held high.

I am saddened by this tragedy suffered upon the Ahmish, I wish them peace, prosperity, and hapiness. I wish them no ill. It is my belief that this piece of sh*t attacked the Ahmish because he was the lowest of cowards and knew that even if there were Men there, that they would not lay a hand on him, for good or ill...

Perhaps its time for some of our older members who live in that area to take upon themselves the defense of those like the Ahmish. I can think of no more noble an end to a man that in defense of the defenseless.

Tragically, for gun owners, now Bush says he "wants to do something." BOHICA

"Officer Friendly"

Ahh...that brings back a lot of memories. :) In one instance I could not stop staring at "Officer Friendly"'s handgun until the officer finally asked if I was scared of it. When I enthusiastically said "no, I am just trying to figure out what type it is" he laughed and told me that I might make a good officer one day. I'll never forget it.

makes you wonder what kind of stupid law is going to be slapped on the books after the election. Im sure Dianne Finestien and Nancy Polesi are whipping up something as speak.

Time to start pulling some overtime at work...looks like I'll be needing to get a PS90 real soon, and all the gear for it. Ouch. And I need to make up my mind on whether I should get a FAL or a M1A. I might not be able to in a few months.

And MO, I can honestly say that I'm dissapointed that this guy did himself in. He deserved far worse, IMO.

No laws will help. Sick people will find a way. Yes armed teachers is an idea... Lib teachers... hmmm. 30 day waiting period for Libs.Instead put the kid in private schools and arm the faculty. Place a disclaimer on the front of the school... All personel employed at (insert school name) are trained and armed . Any person seen with a firearm other than personel will be be shot on site no questions asked.

30 day waiting period...
they have a 30day wait between firearm purchases in kali. it's working.

Yeah , in my book all libs should have to wait 30 days after the end of the world. heheh. Some exceptions may apply. ;)
