A walk-by or run-by shooting.

Last night I was out on patrol when I decided to make a "booty call" to my wife. She and my daughters were over at our Dojang practicing for a Tae-Kwon-Do tournament on Saturday. As I was getting a blow-by-blow account of my eldest daughters bought, I heard a loud BAM BAM BAM.

My wife was standing out side the Dojang when the soon-to-be ex-husband of one of the ladies there decided to drop by and send her a present....

OPD finally caught the guy late last night, and of course he claims that he wasn't shooting, but it was someone in the parking lot shooting at him. Thankfully he can't explain the burst eardrum and powder burns (stipling) on the side of his partner's (the driver) face...

And as usual not a word of it was mentioned in the paper...

But this type of thing happens not only in CA, but in farming communities everywhere. Its a sad thing, but a sign of the times.

Thank God no one was seriously hurt. I hear "shot's fired" calls on my Police Radio every night. Unless someone was seriously hurt or killed, many reports do not make the paper. The Rochester Police Dept have installed "listening devices" around the city. They can determine the location of the shots fired within I believe they said several hundred feet. Rochester has the "fame" of being the highest killing ration per captial in New York State currently. No one ever asks me anymore why I carry 24x7.

I lived in Rochester until I was 24 years old and it seemed to get worse every year. A friend of mine once explained why he quit the Rochester police. During a traffic stop he had the driver open his trunk and was "relieved" that it was "only" filled with pot and not a shooter. He knew, after that it, was time to call it quits. And that was some time ago.
