I was actually looking at it yesterday. How exactly does it work? How do you use it?

well you also have to buy the cutter and lockstud to have the whole thing..still under ten dollars. can be used by hand...they make a wooden ball type handle to make it easier
or chuck it up in a power drill if doing alot.....it cuts the brass to a factory preset length
(its a real simple setup) the steel rod/pin determines the trim depth.

Lee made a custom one for me two months ago. I had them make it to a trim length of 1.128". They probably made a run of them because when I was at Lee, I told them quite a few reloaders wanted a good trimmer and must trim often due to the nature of the 5.7 cartridge.

Works like a champ with their chuck type universal shellholder. I put the shellholder into a VersaPak variable speed drill.

Clamp case into shellholder, insert gauge pilot, start drill. Ease cutter down on case until stopped by pilot. Remove cutter, spin drill slowly with case and use outside, then inside, deburring tool to smooth case edge. Remove case and prime.

Slicker'n fried frogsnot on a brass doorknob.

I just ordered the lee case length gauge and the rcbs shell holder along with a 25acp shell holder for my auto prime. I hope that it will work. if it does not no big deal it was cheap.

if that dont work out..the Hornady #37 shell holder is made just for 5.7x28, and fits the Hornady hand priming tool/ and works with the Hornady Die set.

I just got the lee case trimming tool and the auto prime shell holder, neither one will work. Both shell holders are for the 25 acp and it seems that even thought he head is the same size there is a difference in the web thickness that makes them not work. I am going to try and make them work with my dremmel, because its not worth sending them back.

to say the least they should have caught that one at Lee.

yea I was thinking the same. I emailed lee, but they havent responded yet

I use the following two items with my case length gauge and cutter (from the Lee Precision site:

Three Jaw Chuck works with any case from 25 ACP to the largest belted magnums. Three hardened steel jaws gently center the case while the spindle squares and locks the case head. Cases are installed and removed with a fraction of a turn.

Three Jaw Chuck 90608 $15.98

Optional case spinner spindle with drill shank for use with the Three Jaw chuck, turns any electric drill into a high speed case polisher/lathe. Also works great to hold cases for neck turning or trimming.

Case Spinner Stud 90607 $2.98

I tried the shellholder that came with the case length gauge with a couple of dummy 5.7 cases. One fit and one would not. You may be right about it being a 25ACP holder because when I was over at Lee, they didn't have a shell holder for the 5.7, which is why they suggested the 3-jaw chuck instead.

I do my case trimming with a cordless two-speed drill.

Ultra Fudd,

I will have to try the three jaw if I cant make the #15 work. I also ordered the #15 shell holder for the auto prime (25 ACP) thinking that this may work, but it was to small.

I fixed my shell holders with the dremmel and now they work great. I just took a little off of the inside edges until the brass will go in
