No I didn't, I don't even know what a "taquitos" is. They don't have them up here in upper western New York.

I doubt 7-11 does that but I'm sure you can find better ones at the grocery store or costco or sams.

I've noticed they don't have a lot of things in New York lately........Including firearm rights and honest reporters!

Give Jmz5 his pills, and put down the energy drink, step away from the keyboard. :D

hahaahaha its not for me, the gf...

"In a world of compromise, some don't". well, i do. And if the gf is happy, she won't mind the money i am about to drop on another piece of the "stamp" collection.

You can get them by the case at Sam's Club. Since the information is for her. :)

kamo

Face it, it was the creative use of HK's slogan that yielded the answer..

And it can't be just any taquitos, god forbid we have more than enough places here in the area where i can find taquito type places.

If you haven't had them, they are americanized taquitos that come in flavors like, pepperoni pizza, steak and cheese, etc.

THey are very good late night after a a couple bottles of liquor.

You don't want to. That's what the liquor is for. :) I am almost positive you can get them at Costco.

hahaha...u have a keeper of a gf if you can just buy her tacquitos and get her permission to buy more stamps.

The taquitos used at every 7-11 I have been to were from a supply house called "Smart and Final." They are a cash and carry wholesaler that deals with the public. I have bought the "Monterey" brand taquitos there many times in the past and they are very good. A 4lb box retails for about $10. They are best deep fried, but pan fried or oven baked are good too. Microwaving is acceptable if you have a microwave browning tray, but they tend to get a little soggy without one.

The old saying of "never trust a skinny chef" is illustrated in my personage :)

Having traveled for business, both government and private, for most of my adult life, I have had to experiment with many different types of cuisine just to survive. I refuse to eat fast food if I don't have to, so the microwave and hotplate are two of my best friends.

But then, Im sure you know what Im talking about, Panzer. Your travel schedule is nearly as hectic as mine was and Mama's cooking is rarely available.

I am a connoisseur of the drunken munchies food group. Jack in the box tacos rank up there too. But nothing beat 7-11 taquitos.

FATBOY
07-26-2006, 11:32 AM
The best drunk food around here is Steak and Skake. A fast food burger place around here that is open 24 hours. And not just the drive through. Just enough grease to soak up the alchohol at 2 am. :D

White Castle cheeseburgers!!!!! Does that bring back memories. When I was in the Corp, I used to fill up on them in Washington, D.C. while waiting for the bus back to Quantico. They used to have on store in Rocheter, NY back in the late 60's. But it closed and I haven't seen or heard of any open around here. Thanks for the memories.

The closest thing ive had to a whitecastle burger are those frozen ones from the grocery store. My fav fast food place is Arby's!

no white castle here in kali. in-n-out isn't too bad, tho.

FATBOY
07-28-2006, 12:19 AM
Can't do White Castle anymore. I had a couple bad experiences with them about ten years ago. They do taste worse coming up than going down. White Castle is right next to Steak and Shake. Taco Bell is next to that also. Way to many decicions at 2 in the morning after cocktails. The wife always laughs at me that I can't make up my mind. Since I do the drinking and she does the driving.

Slider
Adjective
From the Latin phrase: Slipperous excretious, or, slippery bowel movenent

Best eaten when constipated, or when annoying relatives are imposing in your home. Also used by correctional institutions instead of castor oil to collect stool specimins and to search inmates for "kiestered" contraband.

Seriously, the only thing worse than White Castle is milk of magnesia. I was never able to eat them without spending half the night in the john. That and they taste like cardboard.

Jack in the Box taco's are really good with a pint or twelve of Guiness, or anything else for that matter, but the ultimate are Del Taco taco's. Not too greasy, have a decent seasoning, and cost $.39 (3 for $1 on tuesdays). A dozen or three Del Taco taco's and a large Orange milkshake are the ultimate "comfort foods" when I feel depressed (which for a time was twice a day, everyday). Unfortunately the closest Del Taco is Flagstaff AZ, so I don't get many very often.

Why would you subject yourself or your gf to taquitos, A nice steak full of salt and pepper will kill that hunger for good. I am 3rd generation San Franciscan with Mexican heritage, if my mom saw me eatin a taquito or Taco Bell food she would skin me alive. If you are going to eat Mexican food do it right or suffer the "revenge" :) :)

I actually sneak them once in a while they are great if yiu microwave them and then fry em for 1 minute. Slather then with avacado and sourcream topped with a good Pico de Gallo and then call them Flautas! ;)

07-30-2006, 06:28 AM
nah, the closest del taco for you is in St. Louis or maybe colorado ;) still... only 400 some odd miles, that's almost doable on a whim

hahaha...but the movie made white castle sound soo good. i agree w/mo, tho...del taco w/the del squirto sauce is the (tsar) bomba!

i have mex friends that only eat near-mex (ie taco hell) b/c they get too much 'real stuff' at home. hahaha...

I have been on a Jimmy Johns Subs kick lately. Kinda like Subway but way better. They have the best chips. I have been trying to stay away from greasy cheese burgers and fries. I can't do McDonalds any more. It makes my stomach turn. My boys love it though and always want to go. It's those darn toys they give them.

jmz5
08-01-2006, 12:10 PM
i hate subway, the only reason i eat there just about every day is that i get 50% off anything, but anymore it just sickens me, i would rather have a nice greasy hanbuger and fries, not fast food

kamo
08-01-2006, 12:15 PM
yeah i dont like subway... quiznos > subway

FATBOY
08-01-2006, 12:18 PM
50% is a good as reason as any. NOTHING beats a good greasy burger. It's tough to find around here, with so many places only cooking the burgers medium to well done. Now that is just wrong. It has to be med. rare. We have a little place called Checkers(not the fast food one) in a town nearby and they have great burgers. It's just tough to get in there it's so small.

jmz5
08-01-2006, 12:19 PM
one thing that i like to get from subway is a steak sub with that new bourbon sauce on it

FATBOY
08-01-2006, 12:23 PM
Never had Quiznos. We have one nearby but I just never get in there. I will have to try it. Subway is HORRIBLE. I have eaten there once in like 5 years. It was at an oasis on the way to O'Hare airport. The kids wanted McDonald's so I figured I would eat a little better. Big mistake, it was just nasty.

kamo
08-01-2006, 12:23 PM
Yeah, quiznos + jalapeno chips = good lunch

Fuddruckers is pretty good for a chain resturant. The closest one is anout 35 minutes away.
We are pretty lucky here in Chicago with a TON of good hot dog places. If you are ever in Chi town you HAVE to go to Portillos. Great dogs, burgers and beefs.

I haven't seen or been to a Jack in the Box in ages. The last one around here closed down over ten years ago. I went to a Carl's Jr in Alaska that was pretty good. We don't have them around here.

I like the thick crust in Chicago pizza. NY is just too thin. Thin crust is good on Tombstone's
