View Full Version : For our fallen on this day

To fallen soldiers let us sing,
Where no rockets fly nor bullets wing,
Our broken brothers let us bring
To the Mansions of the Lord

No more weeping,
No more fight,
No friends bleeding through the night,
Just Devine embrace,
Eternal light,
In the Mansions of the Lord

Where no mothers cry
And no children weep,
We shall stand and guard
Though the angels sleep,
Oh, through the ages let us keep
The Mansions of the Lord

I was that which others did not want to be;
I went where others feared to go,
And did what others failed to do.

I asked nothing from those who gave nothing;
And lived with the thought of eternal lonliness
should I fail

I have known the sweet taste of a moments love;
Felt the stinging cold of fear;
but most of all I have lived times others say
are best forgotten

At least one day I will be able to say I was
proud of what I was...

Teddy Roosevelt was an amazing president, I wish I could have been alive during that era. We need to clone him and re-elect him, I bet that little border problem would vanish.

I spend this day in thanks to our soldiers, both to the living and those that gave everything. Put out the flag, contemplate things, wrote a few emails to folks over in the sandbox. I'll watch a few war movies tonight, I know it's cheesy, but it's one of the way I connect to something I've never experienced personally. It's to the credit of those who have fought, that we've never had to fight on our own soil. Cheers to our fallen and those who stood beside them.

"They shall not grow old, as we that are left grow old. Age shall not weary them, nor the years condemn them. By the going down of the sun and in the morning, we will remember them, lest we forget." -Sgt Gunn. Sahara (movie 1995)
