View Full Version : PS90 vs Goundhog
We had a family of groundhogs move in under our house and under MO Conservation regulations we have the right to (ex)terminate as needed. One of the critters decided to park itself at the end of the yard. My wife said "Could I get it?" "Uh....OK" was my reply. A couple minutes later...

Pest-be-gone FN style. That fact that your wife toasted it is even better. Notice good trigger finger placement.
How many shots? What ammo? Any exit? Wood chucks can tough.
Your wife and mine must never meet it could go bad for the both of us

It was loaded with SS195 and it popped it wide open. She actually shot two of them(1 shot each) a few seconds apart. I couldn't retreive the second one because my arm wasn't long enough to reach the bottom of the brush pile.
The newer black reflex sight really makes for faster target acquisition.
Here is one of the little critters I caught yesterday(before I realized they had decided to take up residence under our bathroom)

Cool!
Glad to see the ps90 and the ss195 taking some more animals!
That is a big ground hog.
I got a call a few minutes ago and my wife smoked another critter. I am hoping this is the last of them. They have been keeping us nibbling on the bathroom.

I have to admit I've been really impressed with the damage tests I've run. My last one was I set up 7 1" thick scrap pressboards/fiberboards in a row with 2 inch gaps between each one. I figured I'd catch the rounds in the trap. Nope. 195 passed through all 7 and kept on jugging downrange somewhere. I was impressed. :machinegu
I mean this with the utmost respect...dude your wife is pretty darn hot.

Jeff,
That's some good hole-some fun! I wish we still had some of those guys pokin around the hay field! Our Ground-hog genocide has pretty mush brought the population down to more than manageable levels here in Minnesota. I really have to get one of those black reticle sights for the old PS90. It looked really good in Springfield at the gunshow. Keep those pics comming!

Good read. The FN 5.7 family is great for just about anything from hunting to survival to personal protection. Either the PS90 or Five seveN make good survival tools. Much better than a 22lr survival gun. Every outdoors person should have one or the other, preferably both. I think the PS90 is a beter ranch rifle than a Mini 14. I do not travel without my Five seveN with me. Military air crews should consider the 5.7 family as part of their survival kit. If I could only have one gun it may be the PS90. The only other choise I would consider would be an M4 with 11.5" barrel and the telestock.
AWESOME!!!
The wound pic, is that only the entrance or exit wound?, or the round pierced from side to side?

That is the exit wounds.
Gretchen ended up shooting five but I could only get to two of them. The SS195 was very effective.
Got the call again...

We were just finishing up dinner and noticed the last groundhog taking it easy in the backyard. Vid was taken from inside the house with our three year old running commentary with a mouth full of food, "Mommy got him!"

we have to start with the average chuck
Not to worry. There are tons of other critters that need exterminating. Here is a pic of the last fish Gretchen reeled in on our family fishing trip(not a photoshop). It got hosed with the PS90(the snake).

Actually its the other brother(John) that has to watch his Ps and Qs. Jeff's wife is Stephanie. There are a too many of us here to keep track of.
Perhaps if Bill Murray's character would have had one of these there wouldnt be any horrible Caddy Shack sequels............... just a thought.
I hope the verman have a Happy 4th!!!!!!!

Groundhogs that size would make me keep my children indoors at night. I would be afraid to leave a lead pipe outside too, looks like they could chew it up and spit out bullets...
