ATF processed my application for a C&R license today. So where are some good sources? The big question is what do I need first? :D

Ok this may be a silly question to some of you, but what is a C&R license?

It's a Curio & Relic License. Better know as a collector's license.

You're welcome. As p99guy said it's the best thirty dollars you'll ever spend. HERE (http://fivesevenforum.com/forums/showthread.php?t=87&highlight=C%26R+license) is the thread where p99 was talking about where he applied for his. He talked me right into it. :)

Try a CZ 52. Fun gun, high velocity, and cheap. Less than $100. If you don't have one.

I don't have one, but I think I will soon.

Think about getting a new firing pin for it. The factory firing pin is a little fragile. Don't dry fire it. I believe Brownels offer a couple differant grades. A new firing pin also helps with the trigger pull......or just leave it and fire away.

I have used Makarov.com (http://makarov.com)(to get Makarov/CZ52 stuff), Aim Surplus (http://aimsurplus.com), SOG (http://www.southernohiogun.com), Century (http://www.centuryarms.com), and Classic Arms (http://www.classicarms.us).

Those are some I've had very good experiences with, and will order from again. There are some others I have used, but these guys have impressed me the most (especially Makarov.com and Classic Arms). I have no affiliation with these guys except as a customer.

Century had some Yugo SKSes that had some 90210 trading cards laquered into the stocks. I wonder if they still have some ;)

I agree with Fatboy, though. A CZ vz52 is a nice pistol - lots of accessories, etc.

Don't forget a CZ52 btown. A great way to get started cheap. Fun little gun, plus a lot of accessories. Think of it as the predecessor to the FiveSeveN. Cheaper to shoot though.

Already tracking down a source for it. The first two I tried were sold out. You know of any place that might have them in stock at a good price?

Do you get Shotgun News? Couple places in there advertise them. J&G sales usually has them, but it looks like they are out. You could get an SKS until you find a CZ52. Also cheap and cheap to shoot. Or even a Nagant 1895 7.62. I have no experience with either of these and I don't know of anyone that has. Actually a friend has a SKS and seems to like it. A local dealer by me has a couple. His prices are a little high though. www.gatguns.com

I just got my issue of SGN and their advert has CZ52's from 89.95 for VG/99.95 VG+
Hand select 119.95..comes with holster. spare mags are 16.95, 210 rd packs of ammo 24.68
New steel firing pins 9.95(get one of these if you buy a CZ)

you are going to find a C&R a great help.(though wives think badly of it lol)

remember to sign all your copies of your C&R in RED ink....dont sign your original.

Military gun supply in Fort Worth tx normally has them too and ships to C&R's

Good luck. I haven't purchased any acces. for my CZ52 yet. If you get one and add some stuff to it let me know. I bought my 52 late last year when I got sick of waiting for my PS90. I am still waiting for my PS90. I should get it soon but with that money sitting there I am getting antsy and close to buying a couple other guns. With my luck I will get my PS90 and then the gun ban in IL will go through. Then I would just have to find a new state to move to.

Thanks p99, I'll give them a call. My wife saw the license and asked what it was for. I think she'll figure it out when the packages start arriving. I may have to tell the dog to make room in his house for me. :)

Do Garands through CMP qualify for C&R?? If they do I might have to get a C&R.

lol...then you've never been hit by a purse containing water bottle, wallet, keys, moby, ipod, cosmetics, etc. that or getting kicked by a pointy-toed shoe or stabbed w/a stilleto heel. :D

lol...at this point, if i want to buy a gun, i hafta bring the gf down and let her approve of it before i buy. crazy.

lol nope never been attacked by a woman. I don't even run my gun purchases by my wife of 11 years. Two reasons, first it just makes my life easier and second if she ever leaves me she has no idea what I have. As far as she is concerned half would consist of a couple .22's a Ruger Sec6 and a Mossberg 500 pump. :D

I don't know. There are enough guns that make it worth your time to get one.

a C&R is one of several things that you can have that will keep you from having to shoot in a match to get a CMP gun....a CHL is another, and you have to be a member of an recognized club(not NRA) in my case it was was the texas state rifle assn.....the garand collectors assn also qualifies. the CMP prices have increased quite a bit lately(yikes)

picked up a total of 3 cz52 from gun shows in Oh. and man are they scarces. ammo is cheap, and found a dealer who has replacement barrels @ $40, gun sounds like a cannon. SGN had an article where it defeated a klevlar helment, also pic of a sabbot load (30 cal nylon insert that hold a .223 read a page somewhere that the sabbot pushed 2400+ fps wish i could find that load recipe again

I know what you're talking about. I think I've called every dealer in Shotgun News that has them listed for sale and they are all out of stock. Several said they expect more in the next few weeks.

FATBOY
03-27-2006, 01:29 PM
One would think for a gun that cheap it wouldn't be hard to find. My local dealer had three on display when I bought one.

Spunk have you tried any of the different firing pins or any other accessories?

spunk
03-27-2006, 01:36 PM
haven't got a new firing pin, only a barrel and not yet switched it out, no problems out of the gun yet, but dead on @ 25yrds destroying clay pigons. what other accessories. also to btown talked to a lady at SOG and she said they wouldn't receive any unless they rework a deal with the importors, said they was trying to double the price on them.
