OK, three days ago, I was working late finishing up some stuff for my thesis and decided to get some food at Subway at 2:00 A.M. - before heading back to wrap up for the day. Anyhow, I’m there eating my foot long and I overhear a conservation of four girls (one who was 19 – I know because I was her intro biology lab teacher last semester) talking about the pluses and minuses of what pregnancy test they use!!! When I say talking, this was not a private conservation – this was a rather loud debate and discussion on their personal experiences with them and which kit was the best. From the way they spoke with authority, I got the stong feeling they used them…a lot.

What I found most depressing was how matter-of-fact this was spoken of; as thought they were talking about what they did over the weekend. I’m not so naďve to think this sort of thing is never spoken about; its just having a full blown conservation about it in a somewhat busy public place was shocking and depressing. To me this must be a sign that the mores that form the backbone of our civilization are weakening, if not breaking down all together. :(

On a related note…I just decided to give FN more of my money yesterday, and I reserved another PS90 and two FS2000 when they come out (up from 1 PS90 and 1 FS2000).

Well, if it takes more 19 year old girls talking about prego tests to get you to spend more money on cool guns, then I say let 'em talk! :)

Going from prego test kits to the end of the world as we know it, now that's depressing. :D

I don't know if I would consider an actual possibility as depressing.

IF this h5n1 virus breaks out among humans,,it will get pretty bad indeed. But it is important to be prepared for many scenarios IMO.

Whether it is a major attack, natural disaster or mother nature finally getting by our medical establishment everybody has the responsibility to ensure their families and themselves are prepared.

H5n1 is a bad deal, and you will need to have ALOT of provisions to try and limit your exposure to others as they are the problem by being carriers,or potentially carriers.

Depessing would be have had ample time to prepare for things and finding out later, when it too late, you get to watch your kids or others die of something you could have protected them from.

Chill out. This started out as a light hearted thread and needs to stay that way. :)

Get over yourself btown.

My post was about the responsibility of one's family. It is something a new father will feel soon enough. It also seems others picked up on that. :)

Thanks for your reply. The point was if you needed an end of the world thread, please start one. Don't hi-jack another.

I "picked up on" the fact that somebody is doing jumping jacks on the edge of hot water.
again.
