I got the 3rd degree for getting a PS90 and then purchasing rails, laser sight and a tactical flashlight. After a heated debate why I needed such things she asked," what the heck does PS90 stand for?" I responded Please Sugar 90 times. I got a short smile then she turned on her soaps.

Well there is one reason for all you guys that catch flack for being gun crazy. Does anyone else have good statements that have gotten you out of hot water?

I've been married 33 years. There is no excuse that would work, she has heard them all before.

+1

If my wife does notice a new gun (she has her own collection) I tell her that I traded for it. I don't think that she believes me, but it is not worth her time to argue with me. In all truthfulness I DID trade for it... cash for the piece :)

Most of my guns actually cost about twice as much as I paid the seller. The wife always seems to get a similarly priced present in exchange for not nagging me. :D

no nagging, she just wants to be able to get some range time w/the new toy. :)

I was given a "get out of the dog house card" which means I have to let my wife spend the same amount of money at the mall. I'm not too worried because half the stuff she buys she returns because it only looked good at the store. I also use the angle that the gun goes up in value. I also blame the inactive social life one is reduced to once one is married and has kids. I don't miss a social life but, a guy must have a hobby. It keeps the mid-life crisis thing at bay and is a little bit cheaper than modding my car.

She actually liked the idea of me going for my concealments liscense. That one will only cost me a $50 blouse. Ha-Ha

I have never needed to use an excuse. My wife has even presented me with the funding to buy a couple Kimbers, a Mossberg 12ga, my Desert Eagle 50 and my FN FiveseveN. I am a very lucky man indeed!

Ditto. 32 years here. Just take my lumps. Promise that it's the "last" one I'll ever buy. Take a few more lumps for lying about never buying another one. Offer to buy her something she wants thats same or more bucks. Then she drops it and leaves me alone so I can play with new toy :-) "When Momma's not happy, nobody's happy"
Are we married to the same woman? :D

I just tell my wife, "Would you rather me spend the money to buy ANOTHER Porsche?".
THat always works because my Car hobby is more expensive than my gun hobby.

lol...how funny. my gal complains that i have no more room for bikes in my house. so, i can always use the fact that a bike is ~$8k, whereas a gun is much less. of course, she'd rather go to the range than ride the bike. :MM
