Okay, search as I might, I cannot seem to find anyone out there manufacturing night sights (as in Trijicon or Meprolight) for the five seven. Anyone know if any manufactures are going to start making them (or low profile Novak style sights?) for the 5.7?

At one time there were some Tactical slides covers on the market with night sights, there is one on my USG. But I have not seen or heard of any for some time.

You can do a search on the forum for night sights. There was a thread by Urban Knight that covered it and where he found his.

I emailed Trijicon today and told em I thought that night sights for the 5 7 would be a big seller. Not five minutes later I got a call from a gent who said that they had a 5 7 over at their engineering department and were cooking something up :) .

He also said they can do custom jobs for almost the same price as purchasing the factory-made add ons.

My cube mate has dealt with Trijicon on a professional basis buying bajillions of bucks worth of their optics for the Gubmint, and he too attests to their professionalism and quality service.

Trijicon and FN both have a "presence" here in Freddyburg, Va, but don't expect a factory tour, if ya know what I mean.

This is indeed good news.

I played around with dry firing in the "dark" to see what home defense would be like. It was a real eye closer, er um . . . opener. While I could make out door openings and backlight from exterior windows, I could not get a sight picture. At that time, you rely on the instinct that your thumbs and trigger finger are pointed in the right direction.

So night sights are a big priority for me next year.

$287 is kind of high for the night sights. Do you know how much they charge for just the sights for a do it yourself job? They are not that hard to remove and put back on. :D

Man, that's a whopper of a price (Tooltech). I think the Trijicon option for my SIG P226 was about $100. I am not a master engraver, but I have been attacking drift pins on firearms and the like since I was about 12 with no bad results yet.

PS: Does anyone know how the rather unusual front sight on the 5 7 is connected? Does it take Wehrner von Braun to remove/replace it?

I think the Triji sights for SIG, etc. sell for about $100 on the web.

All you need is a brass punch and a little hammer. Nothing to it. :) You just tap the sights out, front and rear after taking off the slide cover.

I have used this company to install sights on H & K guns for which there are no sights made - they replace the rear blade and complete front sight. Their site is attached - photo of sight on 5.7 - not cheap, but the only act in town. This is the company Trijicon sends you to for custom work. Trijicon doesnt make the sight for this gun.

Like any new product, the price will be higher than normal, supply/demand. If there are more inquires to the other night sight makers, maybe the price will go down a little.
