View Full Version : PS90 and FS2000 legality in NYS/NYC?
Living in Texas definitely has it's upsides, but I'm considering moving to NYC for a couple of years for school. What are the legal issues with these firearms in that area? New magazine capacity? Flash hiders? Do people store their firearms in other states and shoot at those ranges? Dunno if I'll have to leave behind my AKs and my FAL project-in-progress and just see them when I'm on vacation?
I don't know that I'll really have very much time to go shooting. Maybe once every few months. Might make more sense to leave everything in Texas, and come home on vacations.
BTW, if you guys want to bounce this to the appropriate forum, please feel free. I didn't really find a good "place" for it.

this will help....forget about NYC and your toys, NYS maybee
Thanks for the link. I guess the homemade projects are staying here. :) I guess any future Rhineland rifle would stay too. But what about these new FN toys?
Being that the FS2000 and the PS90 have neither a folding/telescoping stock or a pistol grip that protrudes beneath the action, would they be ok if the muzzle brakes (not flash suppressor) were soldered into place? That would effectively eliminate the threaded barrel. That would only leave the "barrel shroud" limitation.
Rats, I see the mag capacity for the the NYS regs. <1994 >10rds is ok. I'm guessing that our PS90 50rds are >1994. So I guess it's looking more like an FS2000 with <1994 magazines?

the problem with that is even if you call up there and talk to the district atty's office in three surrounding counties..you will get different answers from each one..so its going to be impossible with 100% accuracy to tell you something is ok....when they are reading off the same book and cant even agree.....its beyond this board to interpret NYC laws and statutes....
Yah legalese is awful anywhere you go. :p
I was just hoping that someone here had some experience in NYS/NYC. But then again they probably shouldn't stick there necks out too far...
The only real issue I see with the FS2000 is the barrel shroud if I use <1994 magazines.
The only real issue I see with the PS90 is the barrel shroud if I use 10rd magazines.
Given the length of the exposed barrel on the 16" versions, this is arguable.
Are these rifles planned for sale in NY?

Welcome to the site Barrett! here is a link of intrest to you
Just looking it over quickly...it appears the high cap feeding device will be a problem for one,
now they will have a 10 shot mag for the PS90 but your state would still have to accept the design of the firearm by the looks of it. and the FID card thing.... Yikes!
"It is unlawful to sell, transfer, or possess "any assault weapon or a large capacity ammunition feeding device that was not otherwise lawfully possessed on September 13, 1994."
